*** Six months later. The delivery room nurses bustled in a flurry. Selena had given birth to triplets, and the situation was critical. Two baby boys and one girl. But the girl, born last and deprived of adequate nutrients, was diagnosed with multiple disorders and heart complications. She might not survive the night... "Don't tell the mother yet. Transfer her to an incubator," the doctor ordered. Selena's best friend Adalynn Hubbard watched her with aching eyes, heaving a sigh. After the divorce, when Selena found out she was pregnant, Trevon launched a citywide manhunt. She'd been hiding for six months, but the constant fear had taken its toll. "Selena, my friend," Adalynn whispered,"this is as far as I can help." *** Six years later. In the Denver International Airport. Just in time for the holiday, the airport bustled with crowds, yet many couldn't help stealing glances at the mother and her two children who'd just disembarked. The woman wore a neat casual ensemble and a duckbill cap, exuding a clean, fresh aura with a hint of coolness. Her charm emanated from within, indescribable yet undeniable. She held a child in each hand, two delicate little dolls so identical they were clearly twins. Standing together, the trio hardly resembled mother and sons. Especially the little guys, clad in cool overalls with one hand in their pockets. Despite their small stature, they already looked like the future handsome troublemakers. Antonio Schmidt and Bradley Schmidt blinked their big eyes, taking in their surroundings. So this was their mother's hometown... Not bad. "Tonio, Brad, we'll leave as soon as this task is done. Both of you behave," Selena bent down to say casually. She trusted her sons implicitly. When hungry, they bought their own food; when tired, they found their way home. It was her role as a mother that felt uncertain... Some nights she worked until midnight, unsure how to navigate her way back. "Alright, we got it, Selly. I've heard this a hundred times on the plane..." Brad drawled coolly, clearly tuning out his mother's reminders. As the elder son, Antonio feigned boredom while scanning the crowd. Before departing, he'd hacked into records and learned that the CEO of the Wagner Group would be at the airport today to pick up guests. Maybe they would cross paths. Despite his young age, Antonio had already made a notorious name in hacking circles, his skills bordering on terrifying. This trip wasn't just about aiding his mother. He had a personal agenda, tracking down his deadbeat dad who'd abandoned them and teaching him a lesson. "Tonio, did you hear me?" Selena felt a twinge seeing her son ignore her. She thought,"Since when did I become so invisible?" "Roger that, Selly. I'll keep an eye on Brad and stop him from causing chaos." Antonio replied while Brad interjected indignantly,"I don't need supervision! I'm well—behaved and never cause Selly trouble." Selena was speechless. Both boys had tested off the charts for intelligence at age three, yet bickered like toddlers when it came to sibling rivalry. It was okay. They were still children anyway. Selena had always carried guilt for not having time to dote on the boys during their early years. "Tonio! Brad!" Adalynn's eyes lit up at the sight of the two boys. "I finally get to meet you in person, my little darlings! I've missed you terribly!" "Godmother, we miss you too!" The boys chimed in, their voices sweet. They knew their godmother had helped Selly through tough times, so their gratitude was genuine. "Oh my, so precious..." Adalynn cooed."Selena, how much good karma did you build in a past life to deserve these treasures? I'm so jealous!" Selena shrugged nonchalantly."What can I say... Maybe their genes are just strong. They look the same as me, anyway." At the mention of genes, Adalynn nodded thoughtfully. Strange... Why did she feel these two little ones resemble...
