ABDALLAH The early morning sun filters mercilessly through the curtains. I open my eyes and rubbing the sleep from them, I turn my gaze towards the bed. The bedsheet and comforter are rumpled and when I get up and place my hand on the sheet, it’s cold which means Sophia hasn’t been in bed for a long time. I spot the wad of cash on her side table. Damn it. Not this again. I quickly wear my slippers, brush my teeth and walk out into the hallway. I check the rooftop but don’t find Sophia there.
