“Run Princess!”, I said as I pushed her out the servant’s exit. The castle was under attack and the king and queen had already been captured by the invaders, and when I came across the princess while trying to find my father, I couldn’t allow for the Princess to succumb to the same fate. These men were evil, I had heard my father discussing threats from these men when I was supposed to be tending to my chores. My father, Richard, was the Commander of the King’s army for King John and Queen Alayna of the small country Edenburgh. Even though I was young, a mere 12, I had duties around the castle, so I knew of the servants passageways.
The princess cried out for her family. The small, ten-year-old girl was frightened, pleading with me that she needed to find her mother. I looked her in the eye and demanded her attention. “Gabby, you must go! Your mother and father have already been taken, please, take this passageway and escape. It leads to a small exit that will take you into the forest. Now Go! You must run and hide away!” I instructed her.
With tears streaming down her cheeks, she clutched a small box in her hands and nodded to what I said. She turned and ran and I quickly locked the door and pulled the curtain in front of the door to hide it. I heard splintering behind me and turned to see angry soldiers in red come rushing in at me. I grabbed the closest item I could find, a bronze statue, and swung it towards the soldier nearest me. He quickly knocked me down and then I felt the butt of his gun hit my head, and felt a sticky substance on my hand as I reached up, then everything went black....
