“Welcome young diviner, I congratulate you on getting your wings and wish you the very best future. I will tell you of the first Lunar fairy and her journey into divination and I will explain how to use your magick, though specific divination ceremonies will come later. May the wind be ever beneath your wings and the sky be bright. May the moon look down upon you with gladness.
May Bell”
Chapter 1
Her wings emerge
Elara was the first of her kind. Back when the earth was new and Dragons reigned, Fairies were born. There were only Dark and Light fairies then. Good and evil, but as time went by more fairy races showed up. Elves were the first and they were ostracized for not having wings. Even today there are large cities of elves that will never roam the halls in the Seelie or Unseelie court. The Unseelie or creatures of darkness were created when fairies delved into dark magick and bestowed magick upon nonliving things to give them sentience.
Seelie creatures were created in the same way. Unicorns were horses blessed by the fairies with magick.
Lunar fairies were shadow fairies who turned to divination and good magick. They developed stars on their wings due to the influence of the lunar magick they used. Now there is so much mingling of bloodlines that any number of magicks may come from your child. Light and shadow fairies have the broadest range of magick, for they could study a branch of their type of magick.
Elara was born a shadow fairy in the Unseelie court, her parents were proud to have produced a child with so much power and trained her in the ways of darkness. When she was ten and had not received her wings yet her parents turned from her, casting her out into the streets. Many other families took pity on Elara and allowed her to stay with them for a while. It was then that Elara learned of divination and studied it. She wanted to see what her future held. She needed to see her family again and she needed to see if she would ever get her wings. She started holding ceremonies and divination readings and gained insight into the future. When she was thirteen and had a small flow of customers wishing to see the future she woke to find wings had sprouted from her back. She ran to her parent's home, hoping they would accept her now. They answered and until they saw the wing, they were disappointed to see her again. Her parents unfolded her wings and gasped. She had shadow fairy wings, jagged and dark, but she had stars upon her wings. She was a Lunar fairy.
So Maille was like Elana/ The first lunar fairy? That seemed important somehow. Did that mean she was different somehow? What was different about them that other Lunar fairies could not do or be? Maille put down the book, she now knew how lunar fairies came to be, she did not have to read about Elena's life. She would come into her magic her own way. Maille picked up “Divining and all that goes with it” and cracked it open. It was covered in dust and the pages creaked.

Chapter 1
Scrying
Scrying is the art of using reflective surfaces to gain insight. You can do this using crystal balls, water, reflective glass, mirror, or the like. You can see another part of the world now or you can gaze into the future.
Crystal balls- These have been used for centuries and are a favorite among fairy and human alike. Human “Witches” claim to be able to use them deftly but only fairies can use them to their full potential.
Crystal balls should be left out in the light of the moon before use. The full moon gives the most power and the power that the moon gives is stronger when full.
Mirrors- ….
Maille continued to read until she finished the scrying section. She wanted to try with the mirror in her room but was unsure of how to go about it. She moved onto the next chapter but had little interest in tea leaves or throwing rocks and she refused to touch bones so she moved onto the tarot cards. Those seemed easy enough, now where to find these items? She did not know. Perhaps Ivy would know. Maille felt her stomach growl after reading about the cards and decided to seek out some food in the great hall.
The hall was filling as she arrived and knew it must be mealtime.
“Maille. How are you? What have you been up to?”
“Hello father, I am well, thank you for asking. I was in the library reading about my magick. Father?”
“Yes?”
“Where would I find a crystal ball or tarot cards?”
“Those are not unheard of here.” Maille thought he sounded annoyed but she saw a smile on his face. “Though we do not have any lunar fairies here anymore, we have had them in the past. I will have you taken to the astronomy tower where the lunar fairies used to do their work and you might be able to find what you are looking for there.”
“Thank you, father.” Maille felt a surge of joy, she would get to see their notes, personal books, tools, and whatever else may be in there. She ate quickly, needing to learn as much as she could. Her father laughed at her antics but true to his word, after lunch, had a guide take her to the astronomy tower. It was a small fairy child, their wings already in place. They were purple and looked like butterfly wings, this must be a nature fairy.
“What is your name?”
“My name miss? It is Lily.”
“That is a very pretty name.”
“Thank yee, miss.”
“Do you know any magick?”
“I can make seeds grow.”
“Can you?” The girl stopped and pulled out a cloth bag and picked out a seed and held it in her palm up for Maille to see. Maille leaned down to look and it seemed like a normal seed. The girl then sprinkled powder on it and whispered to the seed and to Maille’s surprise it began to twitch and she watched as the green stem grew from the seed until it was as tall as the girl’s arm is long and a flower bloomed, it was a blue lily.
“That is amazing! How long have you known how to do that?”
“I just learned.”
“What?”
“We have been working for months. I just learned this two days ago.” They started walking again, Maille was lost in her thoughts.
“Here you are, miss. Do you need help finding your way back?”
“No, but thank you.” The girl disappeared quickly and Maille smiled after her. She had energy. “Wait!” The girl stopped and returned to Maille, confusion on her face, but she came willingly.
“Is my father giving you anything for this?”
“No, ma’am. It is my job.” Maille reached up and took her blue earrings off and handed them to the girl.
“Here, take these.” The girl’s face lit up.
“Thank you!” The girl put the jewels in her bag and re-tied it to her belt before bounding down the stairs.
