~Lanre The next morning, I woke up early, as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains. Joanna was still asleep beside me, her soft snores filling the room. I turned to look at her, her round face relaxed in slumber. It annoyed me how peaceful she seemed, as though the world wasn’t a storm around us. I swung my legs out of bed, running a hand through my hair. Today was another day to play my part, another day to weave the web tighter. If I wanted this farce of a marriage to end on my terms, I had to put in the work. Joanna had to believe I cared, that I was invested.
