Atropos looked around. She didn't recognize the place where she woke up. It looked like a small cottage. She was confused because the last thing that she remembered was that her mother had poisoned her.
"Welcome home!" Blurted the man's voice behind her. Atropos quickly turned around, and she almost fell. She wasn't prepared that the man would stay close to her, which surprised her. If he missed her, she would have fallen on her butt. She would have been embarrassed.
Atropos looked at his hand holding her even when it wasn't necessary anymore.
When he didn't leave her hand, she looked at him and saw that he was smiling at her. She thought he was provoking her to see what her next move would be, but then she saw something in his eyes that changed her mind.
Instead of fighting with him or stepping back from what he obviously expected, she stepped forward. She wanted to be sure that her suspicions were correct and that his whole behavior was just an act.
His eyes opened widely, and he forgot to wear his mask for a second. It was enough for Atropos to see that, in fact, he was scared.
She wanted to step back, but something stopped her. She looked at that stranger's hand holding her waist and then looked straight into his eyes.
Atropos had to admit that his eyes were beautiful. He had dark blue eyes that reminded her of the night sky before dawn. She would probably have been bewitched and fallen for his steady gaze if she had met him sooner. But it wasn't just his eyes that caught her attention. His crescent-of-moon eyebrows were thin and narrow. He carried an imperious nose well, and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw, and his mouth looked so soft and luscious that she wanted to taste it.
His messy black hair made him look like he was standing on his bed, looking hot.
When he saw she couldn't take her eyes off his lips, he smiled and, with a charming voice, said:
"Do you like what you see?"
Atropos looked back into his eyes and calmly smiled back at him, as he didn't catch her emptyhanded, and she said:
"I have to admit that you look handsome."
After those words, he pulled her even closer to him. His lips were so close that she felt his breath, but Atropos stayed calm. She knew he was teasing her, but she always had a down-to-earth attitude, and such a cheap move couldn't shake her.
She smiled when she remembered what place she grew up. The first was what she thought was the art of seduction.
If he wanted to play, it was time to show him how skillful she was.
Atropos raised her hand to slightly touch his hair. Still looking into his eyes, she ran her fingernails lightly over his scalp, paying particular attention to the space behind his ears. When her thumb met for a second with his ear, she licked her lower lips and bit the corner of her mouth. The stranger hissed from the desire, and she smiled. It was only the beginning, and he was already lost under her spell. Still smiling, she touched his neck with her other hand. She pulled his neck towards her so she could be closer to his ear, and then she whispered:
"You shouldn't play with the fire if you don't want to be burned!"
And she bit his ear enough to make him groan. Satisfied with herself, she touched his chest slightly, and she felt his heart beating like crazy. She pushed him back slightly, and when she saw him breathing heavily, she said:
"Now, you should understand that playing with me is pointless because I always win!"
He looked at her, and she saw pure desire in his eyes, but some other feelings surprised her, and she stepped back. Atropos looked at his face closely, but she was sure that it was the first time she had met him. It looked like he knew exactly who she was.
"Who are you?"
For a second, she saw sparkles in his eyes, and she thought that he would tease her, but he just smiled as if nothing had happened before, and he said:
"I was waiting for this question for almost eternity."
Atropos rolled her eyes after she heard such a surprising answer, and suddenly, she heard him laughing.
"I am Morpheus."
He looked at her as if she should know him after hearing his name, but her mind was blank.
When he saw that she still had no idea who he was, he sighed and said:
"I am the God of Dreams."
Atropos's eyebrows jumped high from surprise. Seeing her reaction, he smiled and earnestly said: "You have no idea how long I was waiting for you! Welcome home, my lady."
Atropos was stunned, looking at that crazy God standing before her. She thought about how she should respond to him because she didn't want to enrage him. The last thing that she wanted was to handle a mad and crazy God in a place who knows where.
"I know that I might sound crazy to you, but you will understand the whole thing in a while. I will explain everything to you, so please give me a chance! You can believe me that I am not crazier than you."
"Why should I trust you? After all, I don't know you!"
"Normally, I would say that you have to trust your heart, but I knew a lot about you, and I know that it would sound to you like a cliche, so let's say you might not know if you can trust me, but your sister Lachesis believed in me, and I hope I will earn your trust as well."
When she heard him mention her sister's name, she stepped back. She still felt guilty about what she had to do to Lachesis, and now she was even facing someone who knew her sister. Atropos knew that such a coincidence didn't exist. Looking at him suspiciously, she asked herself how much he knew and what he would do after discovering what she had done to Lachesis. She knew that she had to leave this place before everything got worse.
"How do you know Lachesis?" she asked, so he wouldn't suspect she wanted to escape.
"I am her old friend. We met very long ago when she was practicing her ability. She even tried to control my mind when she came first, not knowing that no one could overcome me in my own kingdom. Soon we became friends, but why don't you ask what you actually want to know?"
Atropos bit her upper lip because it looked like she was exposed. Knowing that she didn't have to hide it anymore, she asked.
"How could I get out of here?"
"You can't! At least not now."
"So, I am your prisoner?"
"I wished you would be, but not at all. I was trying to say that I would let you go, but first, I want you to hear me out."
Atropos shook her head, and she stepped back. She didn't want to listen to him. She wanted to go away as soon as possible because she didn't feel comfortable. Not when she was with him, because he knew her very well.
Atropos looked into his eyes, and she saw that her attitude hurt him for a second. She felt uneasy but remembered that he was just a stranger and even her enemy. She turned her sight away from him, and she demanded:
"I tell you that I want to go away. NOW!"
"Fine, as you wish. I'll let you go, but I have one condition. I want you to give me a chance to explain everything to you. You have to promise me that tonight you will find me."
Atropos looked into his eyes when she heard the sadness in his voice, and she said:
"I can't promise something that I am not able to keep. But there is something that I can promise you. I will give you a chance to explain yourself when the right time comes."
When Atropos saw how he smiled, she knew that he would agree. She saw him saying something, but she couldn't hear it because she was disappearing. In the next second, she opened her eyes and woke up.
