Ruby "Mother?" The word tumbles out of my tongue in a harsh whisper. It's dark but I immediately know it's her. I stare in shock as she storms into the room, the gun gripped in her hand. She kicks the door close with her foot and bangs the switch on with the gun. Light spills into the room, making me squint. Silence haunts the room. She stands at the door, staring at us. Silently.
