Lilly POV
After slipping out of the council room, a strange sense of clarity settled over me. Seeing Cillian seated at that heavy mahogany table, flanked by the crushing weight of pack politics and his father’s relentless expectations, made everything crystallize. He didn't just need a casual girlfriend in the shadows; he needed a real partner. A home to come back to.
I spent the afternoon pouring every ounce of love I had into his third-floor suite. I stripped the bed and washed the sheets with my favorite vanilla and rain detergent and fabric softener. I also processed his laundry and dusted every surface until the place gleamed. In the kitchen, I prepped his absolute favorite meal: thick steaks marinated in crushed garlic, cracked pepper, and fresh rosemary, potatoes scrubbed and ready to bake, and a crisp Caesar salad waiting in the fridge.
By late afternoon, a mindless reality TV show murmured quietly on the screen in the background. I kicked off my boots for a pair of plush, fuzzy slippers, twisted my dark waves into a loose, messy bun, and sat cross-legged on the plush living room rug. Spreading my second-graders' spelling assignments across the low coffee table, I clicked my red pen and began grading, feeling entirely at peace.
When the front door finally clicked open, the exhaustion rolling off Cillian was almost tangible. He looked wrecked with his dark hair slightly disheveled, the tension etched deep into the sharp lines of his face. He stepped inside, his brown eyes sweeping over the immaculate space, the simmering warmth in the kitchen, and finally landing on me sitting on the floor.
Without a word, he dropped his keys on the entryway table, walked straight over, and sank down to his knees. He pulled me into a fierce, suffocating embrace, burying his face into the crook of my neck and breathing me in like oxygen.
“Rough day, baby?” I murmured, wrapping my arms tight around his broad shoulders and rubbing small, soothing circles into the back of his neck.
“Ugh, the worst,” he groaned against my skin, his voice muffled and raw. “My dad is insufferable.”
I pulled back just enough to look into his tired eyes, resting a hand gently on his jaw. “What can I do to help?”
Cillian POV
I looked around the room, taking in the clean scents, the organized space, and the dinner waiting on the counter. The sheer level of domestic care and love was overwhelming.
“It looks like you’ve already done everything I could ever ask for,” I breathed, brushing a stray lock of dark hair behind her ear. “Honestly... I really just need you.”
Lilly’s throat bobbed with a small, nervous swallow. “You have me.”
“You know what I mean, Lilly,” I murmured, the familiar ache of wanting more rising in my throat.
She didn't flinch or look away this time. Instead, her bright green eyes shone with a steady, resolute warmth.
“I know,” she said softly, her hands sliding up to cup my face. “And I’m saying I want you, too. All of you, and everything that comes with it. I want to bring you food during any exhausting meetings. I want to stand beside you and help soften our dads up. I want to support you through the big decisions, take care of the home front... and mess the sheets up with you. I want you, Cillian. I’m ready to grow up, and I want to officially be yours. If you’ll still have me.”
My heart hammered against my ribs. “Of course I will still have you,” I said, the words tumbling out in a breathless rush.
I leaned forward, gently guiding her down onto the soft carpet beneath me. I swept her stack of school papers out of the way with one hand, never breaking her gaze. Settling over her, I cradled her face in both of my hands, capturing her lips in a deep, desperate kiss that poured every ounce of my soul into her mouth before peppering frantic, joyful kisses over her forehead, her cheeks, and the tip of her nose.
“So... October thirty-first,” I said, resting my forehead against hers, panting lightly.
Lilly let out a bright, musical giggle, her hands resting flat on my chest. “October thirty-first? What does Halloween have to do with anything?”
“My dad is stepping down,” I explained, my voice thick with emotion. “He told me today he wants me to take over on Halloween, with or without a Luna. But if you’re saying what I think you’re saying... will you be my Luna, Lilly? Will you lead this pack with me, and we do a double ceremony? I swear to the Moon, I promise to treat you with the utmost love and respect possible.”
A shimmer of tears lined her green eyes, catching the dim room light. “One condition...”
I tilted my head slightly, giving her a cautious, hesitant look. “Go on...”
“Can I become Mrs. Walsh that night?” she whispered, a radiant smile breaking across her face. “Can I be yours entirely?”
A massive wave of relief washed over me, so intense it made my hands tremble. “Of course, beautiful,” I choked out.
I pushed myself up, sitting on my knees and pulling her up with me. Reaching into the front pocket of my dark jeans, I pulled out a small velvet box I had been carrying for months, waiting for the impossible dream that she might finally say yes. I snapped it open, revealing the brilliant diamond catching the light.
“Lilly Anne Nolan,” I said, my voice steady and fiercely certain. “Will you be my wife, my mate, and my Luna?”
Tears spilled over her lashes as she threw her arms around my neck, pulling me tight. “Absolutely!” she cried.
My hands shook as I took her left hand and slid the ring onto her finger. It fit like it was forged just for her. I cupped the back of her neck, pulling her into a breathless, searing kiss that sealed the promise between us.
When we finally broke apart for air, she rested her forehead against mine, smiling against my lips. “Now... do you want me to start your dinner?”
A grin pulled at the corners of my mouth as I kissed her again, trailing my lips down the sensitive slope of her neck. “I’m much more interested in dessert.”
Lilly let out a soft gasp and a laugh as I hooked my arms under her knees, scooping her up into my arms in one effortless motion and carrying my future wife straight down the hall toward our bed.
