As she glanced out of her window, she spotted the sign pointing in the opposite direction of the park. The sign indicated that they were heading west; however, she couldn’t quite figure out why James was driving in such a strange direction.
Her gaze shifted back across the front seats to see that James was looking at her quizzically as he drove. He must have noticed her puzzled expression because he asked, “What’s wrong?”
She looked back out of her window, studying the street signs that flashed past. “Are we going the wrong way?” she inquired.
“No,” he assured her. “We’re going to the same place that we usually go for breakfast.”
She nodded slowly, still unconvinced.
James smiled reassuringly. “Trust me.”
She returned his smile tentatively, and nodded her head as he continued driving
