4 “Hiya,” Sharman said. She gave Marnie a small wave. “H-hi.” Marnie gave her an uncertain wave back. She glanced around her, like there might be more people hiding someplace else. Sharman couldn’t blame her for her confusion. Sharman had popped the lid of her pod and still sat inside it, making only the upper half of her body visible to Marnie’s eyes. Sharman reached down to the sides of the pod and pulled out her ankle-high boots. She put them on. She climbed out of the pod, wishing she had thought to bring a coat out here, too. Her flight suit was warm, but not warm enough.
