As Colin predicted, renting my place hadn’t been a problem. I’d made contact with Anthony, a social worker in town whom Arthur knew, to let him know I’d make the place available below market rates to someone in need. He let me know he had a client who was fleeing an abusive marriage and who needed a place to go with their children. I had to admit my bias when I was surprised to find a young man moving in with two impossibly young kids. His broken nose and bruised face told an ugly story. The guy’s husband was in jail and facing charges, but the guy, Rob, couldn’t face returning to his house.
