“Right. Because three isn’t enough.” He shuddered. Then, suddenly, he sobered. “I didn’t really absorb what you said. I mean, you threw a lot at me.” “Yeah.” I wanted to invite him to sit on my lap, but that was never happening. “Could we, you know, cuddle on the couch?” “Of course.” Not wanting to put any more strain on my body than necessary, I let James help me up. He settled me on the end of the couch with my back against the arm and my feet on the middle section. He put a blanket over me, then scooted under my feet so they rested in his lap.
