CHAPTER THREE
HEARTBREAK
"Where have you been? I've been trying to reach you also, I can't find her, she's missing!" Jason lamented.
"What?!" Ella yelled in pretense.
"Where had she gone to? I hope you have made the report to the police? I really need to see you so we can discuss something important." She continued
"Yes, I have, I'm on my way back home now... I hope you're fine? Hope you're not being stressed at work." Jason said showing his concern for her
"Yes, I am, but what should I do? I have to go now, my boss is calling" she lied.
After a few days, Ella invited Jason over for a drink, she wanted a formal breakup with him so she could be free to do whatever she wanted with her new lover Andrew.
"I'm sorry about your mother, but I seriously have to say this" she blurted out
"What's that?" Jason demanded to know
“ We need to end this, I mean... I can no longer continue this marriage plans with you, I am sorry, I'm really looking forward to better things" she finally confessed
Jason felt empty, almost choked from sipping his drink after listening to Ella's confession.
"But, we can work things out, why have you decided to dump me? My mother is nowhere to be found and you're as well doing this to me? What about your son? Are you really going to dump him too?" Jason asked almost whimpering, he never expected the blow that hit him in the face, it wasn't called for him. He felt rejected and sad.
"But he's our brother right? No son please. The child calls us his siblings, he doesn't know we're getting married? Does he? She asked. Ella was already ready for anything that was coming, she hardened her heart and wanted to remain heartless at least to achieve her aims.
"I mean I'm still too young to have a hindrance to whatever I want to achieve, I need to enjoy it please" she whispered.
"What? Are you telling me you're this heartless? What should I then do with him alone? Is this really you? Have you decided to go on with another random guy?” He asked
"He's not just a random guy, I mean he's a bigger fish compared to you" she replied
"Who is he? Tell me" Jason asked
Ella didn't want any loophole, she decided not to tell him about the new man she got, her boss, she didn't want Andrew to know she was soon getting married and at the same time had a son. She wanted to play her game wisely.
"Baby, c'mon we can work things, please don't do this to me, I'll work excessively, add some part time jobs to my work to make end meets, I'll surely satisfy you but please think of our son" he begged
"Just stop it! "
“He isn't our son, but a sibling! I literally don't have a child yet please, if you really do love me, please let me go, I'll surely make some provisions for him, but please treat him as our siblings as we've always done, at least you've really respected my career from the start and you've taken care of him, please continue to do so" Ella spurted out. She was really heartless.
"Please take this and take care of him, let's not meet again" she handed him an envelope with some money as she turned to leave
With tears in Jason eyes, he held her back and dropped the envelope into her purse bag
"Take it, I do not need it, Mark today, I'll surely become the richest, and finally make a good comeback, but by then you'll regret it and it will be too late." Jason said
"You!" She laughed widely
"Making the comeback is for your pocket, which is not even feasible" she said and turned to leave in disgust.
"How can you abandon me and your son, what do I tell him now" Jason wailed as he couldn't take his eyes off Ella as she trekked down the road
"I'm not in support of all these, this is getting out of hand for me, can't we just bribe those media's to take the post down?, why should you go to the extent of marrying her into your home, a girl you don't know anything about? Just because she's been crushing on you? I have been too!!" Ella yelled at Andrew one morning in his office
"Do you realize I am still your boss?" Andrew asked.
"I'm sorry, but we are more than that now... Ain't we?" Ella asked.
"Can't you just put aside jealousy?, this is murder we are talking about, if it gets out to the public, my reputation is ruined and you wouldn't even get to have your way with me" Andrew whispered.
"So be calm and follow my lead, she's just a shell I need this moment, and if I do not grant her request, my reputation is ruined, I mean it's all over the media, I must say she's not even as beautiful as my sweet Ella" Andrew continued trying to change his tone
Ella blushed, as she walked towards him on his chair to give him a peck, she was all over him
"Oh my God, I want you already, meet me at home when you're done from work, That's my girl, be calm huh?" He assured
"Or should I just finish this girl off, she knows way too much about my secret, and she can change her mind all of a sudden" Andrew thought within himself as he smiled broadly towards Ella who just had a fresh breakup with her soon to be husband.
"Hello Don, are you done clearing my traces of that incident?" Andrew called Don his secret trusted right hand man who carries out some secret Jobs for him.
Just then, Ella was returning to hand over a finished file from her end to her boss and her secret lover Andrew when she overheard his conversation with Don,
"This can't be an ordinary conversation, is there any other thing he is planning behind me?" She whispered to herself. Just then she heard him mention her name,
"I said finish her up, I mean Ella, she knows too much and that can haunt me" Andrew said as he drops the phone
Ella stood still, in shock and anger she rolled her eyes and turned back to her office
"I need to earn his trust! I mean quickly, there's so much to gain from him, I can let loose ends, I also love him" she whispered to herself on her seat.
After she got an idea, she went back into Andrew's office, and also to remind him of his last questioning in the police station.
"I'm sorry, I won't be able to accompany you sir, I'm engaged with many files on my table" she said
"Anyways, no problem I'll be back shortly " Andrew said as he pulled his suit jacket from the hanger where he usually placed it whenever he came to his office in the morning.
After he left, Ella left her letter of resignation and a voice recording drive on his table. Shortly after Andre returned, he listened to the voice record as he left his office in a hurry to look for Ella. He looked tense as he instructed his driver to lead the way to her house
"How did you get here? Ella asked, surprised.
"What are you doing!" Andrew rushed at her, stopping her from swallowing the pills in her hand.
"How can you think of such heinous act of commitimg suicide for my sake?" He yelled at his topmost voice.
"I can do anything for you, I don't want your image tarnished, and this thing may get out of hand. That is why I'm trying to take the blame and fall." Ella said, whimpering.
"Why would you leave a voice recording saying you murdered her?" He asked
Ella couldn't stop whimpering,
"Do you love me so much for taking a fall for me?" He asked again.
"How did you get here!, please let me take the fall for you, why are you saving me" Ella asked, shaking herself up from Andrew's grip to ingest her poison.
"Your door was not locked, it was slightly opened, and I had to tell my staff to go through your file for your house description" he replied
Ella smiled within her, and imagined how tense he must have been to listen to her voice recording.
"Has he finally understood my heart? Can he now fully trust me? I hope he halts his plan to kill me" she whispered to herself.
"Even if I marry another
lady, you'll still be the one I love," Andrew assured Ella.
