You lie on your stomach, staring into nothingness, after saying goodbye to Dean.
"He never asked me. He never asked me to be his girlfriend." Tears stream down your face while your thoughts take the best of you. "Everything was perfect. How could it end this way? Was I supposed to give more? Show more? Say more?" You text Max. At this moment Max is at Jeremy's place. But you're so teary-eyed you can't even focus on your screen. Not only does it feel like Dean is slipping through your fingers, but your vlogging career seems to be heading nowhere too. Just as a new wave of emotion threatens to drown you, there's a knock on your door.
"Honey?" It's Max's mom. "Yes... what... is... it?" You're not even trying to hide the fact that you're crying. "Are you okay? Can I come in?" She sounds worried.
"I'm so saaaaad!" I scream frustrated. Max's mom walks in. "You're crying."
"Thanks for stating the obvious."
"What's wrong? What happened?" she asked while pulling you in a hug.
"You won't understand." "Try me!"
"Well if you really want to know. I've lost Dean. And I can't go to L.A. to pursue my dreams. I'll be stuck here all summer knowing that my life has been flushed down the toilet. And there's absolutely nothing I can do about it." Max's mom pats your shoulder. "Well I can't help you with Dean. But perhaps I can help you with L.A.! Why you wouldn't be able to go back home?"
"Well... Jace... Scott... Sarah... and what about Jennifer and her minions?"
"Well I spoke with Sam's mom."
"Sam's mom?" "Yeah, she told me Sam invited you to L.A. To stay at his aunt's?"
"Yeah, he did."
"And, well, I've met his aunt, and she actually lives near that vlogger you like that much. So that means you won't run into them that easy."
You're shocked. You've never looked at it like that. You give her a huge hug. "You're the best!"
"Glad I could make you smile." She laughs.
It's a brand new day, and you're beyond excited to spend your summer break with your favorite YouTuber. All your packing is done and only one important thing is left to do. "Now what am I going to wear?!"
"Take your black ripped shorts, you're velvet red tank top and your matching red velvet heels!" Max screams from his room.
"Thanks hun!" You scream back.
Once you're wearing your outfit you turn a round in the mirror and smile. Your brown wavy hair is reaching your hips and is shining. You did a natural make up look with red lips and you take your sunglasses. You head towards the dining room where Max and Jeremy are waiting on you. You're surprised to see Nick too. "DAMN You could be standing on the cover of vogue girl!" Jeremy screams..
I laugh and turn a round. "Thank you thank you."
"Soooooo aren't you guys excited?" Max asks.
"OMG so excited!" I scream while jumping up and down "Yaaass" Jeremy kisses Max's cheek.
"I can't wait." Nick said cool. Max's smile vanishes. "Seriously, Nick, just be invisible." Max says frustrated. "I don't even get why you're coming on the trip."
"Because mom told me to?" Nick now answers angry.
"You could've said no!" "Why would I?!"
"Because you're annoying and I don't feel like babysitting my younger brother?"
"Mom wants me to babysit YOU." "Just shush, loser!"
"Oh come on Max. It can't be that bad. In fact I love that Nick is coming." I try to make it a bit better.
"Don't encourage him Bells." Max answers and in that moment the front door opens and Sam enters unannounced.
"Hey. You guys ready?" He smiles.
"Hey man! All set!" Max highfives him.
Sam gives you a once over and just start gaping at you. I raise my eyebrows at him.
"I'm so happy you're coming with us, Bella."
"Me too."
"This is going to be the best summer ever!" Sam says excited.
"Hey nicky. Heard you're going with us." Sam turns to Nick.
"Yeah. I'd appreciate it if you'd call me by my real name."
"What's that?" Sam lifts one eyebrow up.
"My name? It's Nick? Not Nicky?"
Sam ruffles Nick's hair, somehow finding his request amusing.
"Get used to your new name, Nicky." Sam said back.
You decide to stand up for Nick. "I feel you nick. Sam, Nicky is not only incredible lame, but so unoriginal."
"Yeah, poor guy. He just can't help it." Sam answers back.
"Ha! Good one, bro." Max highfived him.
"What? No! i Mean the nickname douchebags!"
Sam and Max continue laughing, while Nick acts indifferent.
"Are we leaving or what?" Jeremy said. "Yeah. Let me just call Max's mom. Mom! We're leaving!"
Dina appears within seconds.
"So soon... I haven't even packed your guys lunch or..." "Don't worry. We'll get fed on the plane." Sam cuts her off. "Yeah, they're known to provide food and stuff mom." Max laughs. "Okay, wise guys." Dina shakes her head at the guys and turns towards you. "Have fun okay! And don't worry they won't recognize you." The last part she whispered in your ear while she hugs you longer than necessary. "I bet you're going to have the times of your lives!"
"We are! It's going to be so much fun!" Jeremy screams while taking hold of your arm.
"Thanks Dina! We're off to make some memories." Sam said full of confidence.
"Okay, let's go!"
You're on the airplane awaiting take-off. Nick is extremely pale and small beads of sweat stud his upper lip. "Are you okay, Nick?" I ask a bit worried. "No." His voice trembles.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid of flying. Actually, of crashing, to be more precise." He looks down to his fingers.
"It'll be fine. Just relax." The others have overheard your conversation.
"Yeah, what's the worst that could happen?" Sam jumps in the conversation. For a moment it seems like they are going to act nice. "Nothing really, I mean, the engine could seize up." Max jokes. "And we could die." Sam looks Nick deadly in the eye. "But other than that there's nothing to worry about." Max continues.
"I don't feel so well." Nick whispers. sweat dripping from his head. "If you puke I'll kill you." Sam looks irritated by now. "He's definitely gonna blow. I see one shot of projectile vomit coming up." Max laughs.
"Ewwww, that's so gross." You hear Jeremy. "Tighten your seatbelts. It's gonna be one bumpy ride." Max glares at Nick while he said that. "Nick, just lean back and breathe. Don't listen to these morons." You try to support Nick. "Yeah, I'm trying, but it's pretty hard."
"Concentrate on something else. Like stuff that makes you happy."
"Yeah, Nick, go to your happy place." Max keeps going making fun of him.
Sam and Max laugh out loud. "Think of your stupid computer games. That's all you ever do." Max continues.
"Cut it out. You guys aren't helping." You react irritated. You concentrate on Nick again.
"Think of what complete idiots Sam and Max are. That should make you happy." To your delight, Nick smiles. You've also managed to silence the rest. "You're right. That does make me feel better."
"See? It works like a charm. Besides, statistically you're more likely to die from selfie-related accidents than a plane crash." You laugh. "Really?"
"Yes, look it up."
"You're so smart, Bella. Thank you for making me feel better."
"No problem!"
"Wow. Who knew selfies were so dangerous?!" Jeremy whispers on the background.
You laugh and lean back in your seat. You stare out of the window.
"You look stressed honey." Jeremy said sweet.
"I can't believe I'm going to meet MaiPhammy... And that I'm going back home..."
"I know. It's crazy... But you'll be fine. They won't even recognize you, you changed a lot!"
"And so surreal. And what if they do... What if they do recognize me?"
"You're being paranoid. I mean Jennifer was standing in front of you and she didn't even recognize you."
"But what if they do? What if Scott or Sarah recognizes me... Or worse, what if Jace recognizes me!"
"Stop! MaiPhammy wants to meet you and they will NOT recognize you. She even mentioned you in her vlog. You saw that, right?" Jeremy laughs.
"Yes." He got a point there.
"Well how much proof do you need? You're so incredibly lucky, Bells. It's time you realized that."
"What would I do without you?"
"I have no idea." Jeremy squeezes your hand. "Just stay in the present and enjoy the ride, okay?"
"I'll try!"
After a successful take-off, you're up in the air and lost in thought.
"It's hard to stay in the present when I'm flying straight into my past and future. What if Maiphammy thinks I suck? What if my channel doesn't grow?" You're trying to distract yourself by watching a movie. You lean back in your seat and put on your earphones. "A comedy. Or something inspiring. Anything except doom or gloom." An in-flight announcement sounds off. Jeremy smiles at you and shifts in her seat. "We're almost there!" Jeremy smiles at you.
