I knew I couldn't spend the entire day at First Perfect waiting to see Daniel. The guards who threw me out were emphatic that I would not be allowed back in under any circumstances. I eventually decided to take a cab back to the bed and breakfast. I couldn't bear the thought of talking to Mom, and I knew I'd have to come up with the precise words to avoid upsetting her. But it's my fault, I lamented as the cab drove me through the slushy streets. Maybe Daniel would have listened to me if I hadn't been such a jerk. But I wasn't all that horrible. He had no intention of listening in the first place! If I hadn't run into him in the lobby, I would have probably gone the entire trip without seeing him! I could only cuddle up and cry. I ended up falling asleep with my legs gripped to my chest
