I had screamed uncontrollably for so long that my voice had completely disappeared and left me with a ringing in my ears so intense that I couldn’t hear anything but that and my own heartbeat. My voice wasn’t the only thing that had disappeared. So had my father and all of his men. Some of them had looked at me with satisfied looks in their eyes before leaving, while that one guy gave me a look of pity. The only thing that hadn’t disappeared was Cherry.
