Kimberly’s POV He was fearing the worst just like I did. I could tell even before he began speaking, as well as after he had tried to compose himself but failed. He rushed over, his phone still in his hand as if he, like me, were waiting for her to call and tell us that she got stuck in traffic or that her favorite store had a big sale that made her late but that she was on her way home. But we both knew it wouldn’t happen, me more than him.  I remember my father more vividly than I wanted to. I remembered what he was capable of and what he would do to get what he wanted. If he had locked Elenore in as an enemy, someone who needed destruction and terror as a payback for doing something to him, then that was what he was going to get. Destruction and terror. He didn’t care who it affected
