“Excuse me!” I pumped my legs hard and fast, pushing around students in the hallways. I elbowed a couple of football jocks who had decided to take up the entire corridor and shoved past them, heading for Literature. The first bell had rung a minute ago, but I needed to get inside before anyone else. After basically sprinting down another hallway, I stopped in front of Mr. Avery’s room and sucked in a deep breath. When my breathing finally evened out, I pushed open the door and hurried inside.
