7 Davis finished off the last of his red curry. Back home he would have balked if someone had suggested he put peanuts in a dish, but this meal made him want to put them in everything now. “Want more?” his mother asked. “Now’s your chance because we’ll be giving the leftovers to the villagers.” Davis did want more but knew he shouldn’t. For one, now that he knew that the more he ate, the less there would be for others, he would feel guilty with every bite. Besides, Davis had already had three servings.
