Chapter 36August 29th, Cabin in Dease Lake The helicopter flew over the cabin. As it turned in a circle to land, John and Betty Carr looked down at the scene on the ground. The cabin sat at the edge of a meadow where tons of people were busy working. Most people drove in, but he and Betty chose to fly in from Dease Lake. This was Tom's fifth trip in today. “My God, it's in the middle of nowhere,” John gasped. “When she escaped those kidnappers, I can't imagine her living here alone though the winter.” Betty shuddered in agreement. John was filled with a sense of pride when he thought of what his granddaughter endured for the duration of her stay in this remote area six years previous and what she had recently survived at the hands of her stalker.
