Chapter 20Julie opened her eyes. She braced herself for the pain that enveloped her body each time she woke up. She stared straight across the room, afraid to move her head for fear that her raging headache would once again render her helpless. The past few days ravaged and exhausted her. The morphine helped of course, but the soothing effects of the drug lessened daily, prompting another dosage increase, which knocked her out right away.
