I woke up feeling very dry, like my body felt dehydrated and my throat was parched. I groped beside me blurrily for that familiar heat from Alex.
Huh?
I jolted up on my bed when I didn’t feel him next to me, but his scent was clearly swirling around me, as hot as the sun. Memories from yesterday hazily made their way through but I couldn’t make any sense of it. Giving up, I threw away the suffocating duvet to look for Alex.
That’s when my eyes landed on a sorry figure sitting on the floor of the bathroom. His hands were handcuffed to the toilet, the skin around the handcuffs was rubbed red and raw. His head was bowed and I could clearly see his chest heaving as he struggled to breathe.
