The next morning.
I woke up with a start.
Fuck! Alex!
I turned and saw Alex laying beside me, my arm still under his head and numb.
He had thrashed around for a good hour before settling down. Then he just had his eyes closed and moaning in pain with a frown. I accompanied him, not knowing when I fell asleep. I stared at his peaceful sleeping face in relief. I reached out to stroke his cheek and he opened his beautiful black tea eyes speckled with gold.
“Alex?” My voice was hoarse from all the crying yesterday. My heart jumped to my throat as I watched him, anxiety tightened its hold on me when he didn’t reply.
“Bella,” he finally croaked. His voice was raspy and broken but relief flooded me as he got up to hug me. He finally recognised me!
