I stepped out of my room the next day, whistling a simple tune my father used to sing to me when I was a kid. It soothed something in my brain.
My new guard at the door stared at me with wide eyes as soon as he saw me, and I couldn't help but grin wide. It already had the desired effect.
Perfect. My plan was already proving to work.
"Good morning, Miss Liliana." He said as he followed closely behind me.
"Good morning. Todd." I said to the big burly man that was almost thrice my size. He wasn't fat, just muscular and tall. Probably the same height as Max. His hair was cut pretty short, so I was pretty sure he'd been rocking a bald hairstyle before he'd been assigned to me.
