Marilyn's POV
As Alexander led me out of the church, I couldn't help but feel a rush of mixed emotions. My heart was still pounding from the wedding ceremony, and now being led out to the parking lot by Alexander, my new brother-in-law, was making me feel even more flustered.
I tried to focus on putting one foot in front of the other, but Alexander's hand on mine made it hard to think straight. His touch was gentle, yet strong, and it sent shivers down my spine making me ticklish in areas I do not want to. I quickly looked away, trying to distract myself from the undeniable attraction I felt for him.
Once we were outside, I turned to Alexander, trying to compose myself. "Why did you bring me out here?" I asked, attempting to sound more casual than I felt.
Alexander looked at me with a soft smile. "I wanted to thank you, Marilyn," he said, his eyes reflecting sincerity. "I've never seen my little brother so happy before. He is a good man, and he truly loves you."
I felt a pang of guilt in my chest, knowing that I was hiding my own conflicted feelings, Reed really is a good man and he deserves a woman who would love him with all her heart, not the one who is sexually attracted to his brother. "I... I'm glad he's happy," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Alexander nodded, his expression serious. "I really do love my brother a lot, and for that reason, I have to go now," he continued.
"Go now? Go where? There's an after party and your his best man" I complained seeking answers. "I know that, but I'm meeting someone for a business matter, and I can't miss it. But Reed would be furious if he found out I left. I promised to prioritize him more but this is important."
I tried to understand how Alexander would think anyone would let their siblings leave for a business meeting on their own wedding day. "What are you talking about?" I asked, feeling lost in the whirlwind of the day's events.
Alexander sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I need you to help me out, Marilyn," he said, his eyes locking with mine. "Please let it down to Reed slowly. He'll understand if you explain it to him."
I took in a long deep sigh and nodded slowly. Even though they were brothers, no one could be as thoughtful as Reed, my husband. "I'll take care of it," I promised, not wanting to add to Alexander's worries.
Alexander smiled gratefully and then leaned in to give me a gentle kiss on the forehead. His touch left me frozen in place, and I found myself lingering on the sensation long after he had pulled away.
"Congratulations on your wedding, Marilyn," Alexander said softly, his eyes holding mine for a moment longer before he turned and walked towards his car and all I heard after that was the roaring and screeching tires of a car as it zoomed off.
As I stood there in the quiet of the parking lot, I couldn't shake the feeling of Alexander's touch or the weight of his words. Just when I thought his act of selfishness towards Reed would completely kill all the feelings I had for him, he just had to kiss me. And a kiss on the forehead felt so intense that I wanted more of the warmth if his kisses.
After a while, I finally regained my composure and decided to go to my husband, maybe he could help me out of this daze. As I turned to look at the entrance of the church, I saw Reed standing there, looking a little lost. He glanced toward the parking lot where Alexander's car had been and let out a depressed sigh. I quickly made my way to his side, my heart still racing from the encounter with Alexander.
"He had a meeting," I blurted out, trying to explain why Alexander had left. "Of course, it's always a meeting," Reed said with a playful exasperation in his voice. We both giggled, and I leaned in to give him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Congratulations on becoming my husband," I said with a smile.
Reed grinned back at me. "Congratulations on becoming Mrs. Marilyn Reed Smith," he replied, making me groan at the cheesiness.
"Ugh, you just had to make it cheesy," I complained, rolling my eyes. "Really? Then let me make it up to you in bed," Reed teased, winking at me mischievously.
I blushed and playfully shoved him. "Stop it," I said, but I couldn't help but giggle.
Before I knew it, Reed had swept me off my feet and was carrying me all the way to our car. I could hear the voices of our friends and family cheering at the display of affection, and it made my heart swell with happiness but also with nervousness. This is a bit embarrassing.
He put me down in the passenger seat and then got in too. As I looked out the window, I saw Maria standing close by staring at me, she had that proud look in her eyes as she kept crying and waving goodbye. I waved back, tears welling up in my eyes.
Suddenly, I felt myself being pulled back into the car. Reed drew me close and whispered in my ear, "Ever fantasized about doing it in the car on your wedding day? Don't worry the glass windows are tinted and our driver can use ear plugs."
I pushed him away, trying to sound stern but failing as I giggled, "Get away from me, you pervert!"
We both laughed as he started the car, and as we drove away, I couldn't stop smiling. Despite all the chaos and unexpected moments, I knew that this was just the beginning of our new life together and it is going to be great.
Just then the driver drove in a weird speedy form and before I could wrap my head around what was happening, we crashed right into another moving black car.
