It began to move then, stepping away from her towards a green terraced pyramid towering above the trees at the far side of the grove. Intrigued, Callie looked more closely. On her previous visit it had been too dark to see the ziggurat. Was it important in some way? The stag stopped and looked back at Callie, as if waiting for her. Callie shifted Ana onto her hip and followed the stag until it reached the base of the ziggurat that now loomed above them. Without looking back, the white stag began to climb, its path bound by green hedges. Callie tilted her head back to see higher, and noticed that the hedges circled the ziggurat in a long, winding spiral leading right up to the point at the top.
