Like a scared hare, Olivia looked up and waved her hands. "It was just a random comment. I'm not a professional."
"Just comment from your perspective." Giving her no chance to decline, Asher shoved the manuscript into her hand.
Under the gaze of everyone, Olivia looked down at the design draft and found it familiar to the eye.
She thought for a moment and said, "This design rings a bell. If my memory doesn't serve me wrong, it should be a piece of work created by a new designer abroad. The name of the work is Time, with a clock silhouette as the backdrop, and the style of this design draft is similar to Time. It caters to the market. Other than that, it's unremarkable."
Asher applauded with his pretty hands before he turned around and ran his eyes over those designers. Exuding a strong aura, he sneered, "Even a cleaning lady here is better than professionals like you. How dare you do a thing like plagiarism! Didn't you review your work before you handed it in? You let me look at such trash every day."
Asher took the manuscript from her hand and threw it into the trash can.
The air in the office turned so cold that no one dared utter a sound.
"Sir, the surveillance has been checked." The assistant reappeared.
Asher's face softened, and he said, "Go on."
"It's verified that Olivia came into this office after she finished cleaning the conference room. The surveillance footage shows that she was cleaning at the door and didn't go to Vivian's cubicle."
Vivian turned ashen and looked at Asher with pleading eyes. "Sir, I didn't mean to. I thought..."
Asher curled his lips, but his eyes were icy cold. "Vivian, don't you think you owe the person you falsely accused an apology?"
Olivia looked up at the man. To her surprise, the president of the Taylor Group stood up for her over such a trivial matter.
"Olivia, I made a mistake. I hope you'll forgive me," the flexible woman apologized, but Asher cut her off. "Even if Ms. Flores forgives you, the company will not tolerate you."
His words struck Vivian like a bolt.
"Mr. Taylor, no."
"The company will not tolerate a designer who practices plagiarism." Asher gave his final statement like a ruthless judge.
"She's just a cleaning lady who doesn't know anything about design," Vivian argued.
"Do you think I don't know either?" Asher sneered.
Vivienne collapsed onto the floor. The design work Olivia had commented on earlier was hers. She had thought no one would find out since it was created by an obscure designer.
Such a result was not expected.
The farce ended with Vivian being invited out by the security guards.
This felt like a dream. Olivia picked up her tools and prepared to leave when the man beside her said, in a deep voice, "Come with me."
Olivia followed the man out and came to the elevator.
"Interested in jewelry?" Asher asked with his hands in his pockets and a raised eyebrow.
Olivia gave a heavy nod. "Yes, I love jewelry design, and it's my dream to join Taylor Group."
Asher looked down at her and saw her twinkling eyes.
"Then why didn't you apply for the position of designer?"
Following his question, the stars in her eyes dimmed, and she lowered her eyelids in dismay.
"I don't have a diploma and haven't received any professional training. I have to start from the bottom."
Just then, a ding came from the elevator.
Asher patted her on the head like soothing a wounded kitten. "You're talented. Fight for what you want."
He then went into the elevator, leaving Olivia there, petrified.
Did the president of Taylor Group just pat her head?
Was it real?
"Wow, Ollie! It looks like the CEO has a good impression of you. That was an encouragement," Rachel couldn't help saying.
"Rachel, is every boss so nice? He's so kind to his employees." Olivia voiced her doubt.
Rachel teased her, "Not necessarily. Maybe Asher is only kind to you."
"Cut it out! He's the exalted CEO, while I'm just a minor employee." Olivia snuffed out the fantasy in her heart.
Until her shift was over, Olivia was still in a giddy state.
However, the beautiful bubble was soon pricked.
"Miss, you can't see the children without their guardian's permission." The head of the orphanage stopped Olivia at the door.
Olivia fought back her annoyance and said, "I'm their mother and have the right to see them. Besides, if Aiden had fulfilled his duty as a father, they wouldn't have ended up in the orphanage."
No matter what she said, the dean would not let her see the children.
Suspicion rose in her. She broke into the orphanage and came to the playground.
"Draw the shapes on the diagrams. Do you hear me?" Aiden snapped at the twins, holding several drawings in his hand.
Getting no response, Aiden slapped Reese and barked, "Do you hear me?"
The twins were taken aback and burst into tears.
Olivia figured out what Aiden was doing in an instant.
Aiden used to make her copy jewelry designs. Now he was teaching their children to do the same.
Enraged, she rushed over and tore the drawing to pieces.
"Asshole! How could you do this!"
She squatted down to hold her children, too mad to speak.
"What are you doing here?" Aiden frowned, looking at the perplexed dean, and intended to kick her, "You don't want your job anymore? Didn't I make it clear enough? You shouldn't let this crazy woman come in to see the kids."
In her arms, the twins were huddling in fear. Olivia was heartbroken.
Unwilling to argue with her ex-boyfriend in front of them, she soothed them and dragged Aiden outside.
"Let go of me!" Aiden shook off her hand and said, "Don't forget that I'm the guardian of the twins. A criminal like you shouldn't come and see them again. You'll lead them astray!"
"Is it right for you to teach them to copy designs and sell fake jewelry? How can you let them go on the same wrong path as you?"
Olivia fumed and pushed the man. Aiden stumbled and almost fell.
When he stood still, Aiden slapped her and snorted, "I'm their father! And they do what I want them to do."
Slap!
Olivia slapped back and intended to hit him again, but her wrist was gripped.
"You'd better not challenge my patience!" Aiden spat, "For the sake that you gave birth to them, I'll let you go this time. Take this as a warning. If you come again, I'll make you suffer."
Olivia trembled in anger.
"This is too much, asshole!" Rachel snarled.
Olivia closed her eyes, her tears streaming down her face. With a quiver in her voice, she said, "Rachel, I loved Aiden with all my heart, but he is so cruel. I gave birth to the twins. What makes him think he can deprive me of my right to see them?"
"Ollie! Don't let this bastard go! Beat him up!" Rachel shouted.
The dean, who had been watching the situation, saw them fighting. She rushed over and separated them.
"Stop fighting! We can talk it out!"
Aiden stopped, gave Olivia a warning look, and prepared to leave. Then he changed his mind and shoved her onto the sidewalk.
A scooter was zooming past. Olivia twisted her body and narrowly avoided it. At the same time, she lost her balance and fell to her knees.
"Take it as a punishment! If you come again, I will starve the twins for one day. If you come here twice, I'll starve them for two days." Aiden spat and left.
Bearing the pain, Olivia sat down on the curb. While she was in a daze, the dean whispered to her, "You should give up. He has pulled in funds for the orphanage, and we all have to listen to him."
"What funds? Where did he get the money?" Olivia asked.
"The funds come from a mystery family. That rich Alpha provides the money and places Aiden in charge of everything. I have to obey him." The dean then walked away in such a hurry, as if she were afraid of Aiden's discovery.
Olivia lifted her pant legs and gawked at her bleeding knees.
Honk.
The piercing sound of the siren reached her ears.
She looked over. The car window went down, revealing the chiseled face of a man.
Asher!
She was stunned. Asher's assistant got out of the car and helped her get in.
In the backseat, Olivia felt unreal.
By the time she came to her senses, she thanked the man, "Mr. Taylor, thank you. I..."
"It's alright. How did you get injured? It's quite serious."
If he hadn't glanced out of the window by chance, he wouldn't have seen the cleaning lady who had impressed him today. She was sitting on the side of the road, lost in thought!
"I fell by accident."
"John, go to the hospital," Asher said.
"I'm fine. It's not that serious. I can take care of it myself."
Her refusal was to no avail, and the car soon pulled up in front of the hospital.
When she struggled to get out of the car, the door was opened.
The man in a black suit bent down. One of his hands landed on the back of her neck, and his other hand went through her bent knees. With a little strength, he picked her up and headed to the emergency room.
"I'm really fine. Put me down!"
Olivia felt the attention from all around. Her heart was thumping, and her ears were flushed.
