Sergeant Alexander sent Kawalski and Sparks up the side of a distant hillside to take a second reading on Sparks’s direction finder. They were back by late afternoon.
“About two hundred and ten miles away,” Sparks said, “southeast.”
Sarge unrolled his map. “That puts them...” He studied the map for a moment. “In northern Italy, on the Ticino River. About right here.”
“Hannibal’s first battle in Italy was on the Ticino River,” Karina said.
“Did he win or lose?” Kawalski asked.
“He won,” Karina said.
“So, it seems our Chinese pals know a bit of history, too.”
“And they’re planning to change history,” Karina said.
“Correction,” Sarge said, “they’re going to TRY to change history.”
