The next morning, while Cateri and Autumn made pancakes on their big iron plate, some of the men looked through the pile of goods. Lojab sat on a log, sipping his coffee and scowling at the women as they busied themselves around the fire. “Hey,” Kawalski said, “I need this.” He held up a large piece of thick ox hide. “Get your hands off my leather, Cowboy,” Kady said. “Don’t throw a hissy fit, Sunshine.
