It was late the next day when Hannibal returned from the raid on the Vocontii. He and Rocrainium rode at the head of the column of cavalry and foot soldiers.
Sarge and his soldiers, along with Liada and Cateri, watched from beside the trail, where they were lined up on horseback.
When Joaquin saw Tin Tin Ban Sunia riding behind Hannibal’s saddle, he kicked his horse’s sides and galloped out to meet them. When he got to them, he wheeled his horse to ride beside Hannibal, then reached for Tin Tin’s hand.
Hannibal spoke a few words as he helped Tin Tin transfer over to Joaquin’s horse.
Tin Tin held tight, with her arms around Joaquin, as they galloped back toward the Seventh.
