As Sarge prepared his people to march out to meet the Romans, he saw Cateri coming with her wagon. “Hey,” Kawalski said, “she has horses this time.” Cateri whipped her team along at a gallop, stirring up a cloud of dust. “She has Tin Tin and Liada with her,” Autumn said. The two of them rode their horses on either side of the wagon, and all three had their bows and arrows. When Cateri pulled her horses to a stop, Sarge went to the wagon and looked up at her. “Can you give us a ride?” She smiled but obviously didn’t understand. Liada spoke, then Cateri pointed to the back of the wagon. “Okay, people,” Sarge said. “Load up.” Liada dismounted and went to Kawalski as he walked toward the back of the wagon.
