Chapter 6:Contract signing

Liam

Camilla follows me to the hallway and I point toward the stairs. She looks confused. She drags her dress down and tries to cover her cleavage. She might be having silly thoughts about my actions but I need to clear that up.

“I need to talk and my room is the most convenient place for that”

“I need the privacy, Don’t you like that too?”I turn to take the stairs.

“Everyone knows about the deal”

“We don't need to discuss that in your room” She blurted.

“Let's say I need to be a bit relaxed”

“We have so much to talk about and I can't do that here”

She nods in agreement and pouts her lips. Gosh…that...lips.We are in the midst of an important deal but she manages to charm her way into my heart and stir it up. She makes me so uneasy. I shake the thought away and lead the way to my room. Sabel had arranged my room and pleated it with different fragrances. That woman has always done a lot for me right from inception. She was my first nanny and she still takes care of me like her son. I have gotten used to having her around and I can't do without her comfort. She is always here when I’m sad and as well as when I’m in my best mood.

She cleans after me and cautions me when I’m a mess. I guess she's the only one that can shout at me and I bow in respect. She is my second mother and I can't imagine life without her.

“ Sit” I gesture toward the sofa I have in my room. It was designed specifically for me. It has my initials. I couldn't wait to yank it off China. It comes in a set and all my family members have one.No one sits there. Not even my mother. It's my safe spot and I do a lot of thinking there.

Well, Camilla is in my room and I don't want her to feel uncomfortable sitting on my bed.

I’d love that by the way.

I smile at the thought of that.

“Do you need wine?

“No, I don't “

“Suit yourself. You need to be free here. I don't bite but I can't say the same about my folks” I laugh jokingly.

Then this thought struck me.

I need to apologize for my mother's behavior. I dragged her here and Camilla didn’t deserve any of the cold stares and replies she dished out. My mother can be a handful but she is my guest and I need to make sure she’s comfortable.

“I’m sorry about my mother. She can be very protective sometimes”

“I’m sure she didn’t mean to act that way” I gave her a reassuring smile

“I know what I got myself into the moment I walked in here,” she says coldly and returns to scanning my room. I place the document in her palms. She is in here for that discussion after all.

“Read this through”

“I had my lawyer draft it out in the simplest way possible. If you have any concerns, Let’s talk about it”.

I am expecting her to glance through it and sign immediately because we had a brief discussion on whatever was going to happen at the club. She knows what she’s getting into. Why scan the paper like she’s preparing for a bar exam? I bet she wants to be careful enough not to make the mistake of being stalked by me for life.

She hates me that much

I swear I have caught her stealing glances at me for a few seconds. well, I applaud her for being professional in some sense. Any other random girl would sign any piece of paper given to her by a billionaire. What do they have to lose anywhere? This one knows she has a lot to lose. I bet she has a loving family waiting for her at home. I’m pretty sure her meals are being prepared by her mother and they eat in a tiny house, living happily. I envy her.

“I think we are good here. I’d like to add I get an advance pay. I need it for something. it might be the only reason I am doing this right now” She shudders.

“Maybe the pay for the month? Or let’s say a start-up pay. You can pay for dragging me to your house”.She forces a smile.

That smile. It does something to me. I can tell

“I can pay for that but there's a condition”

“You have to do more”

“You know this is important to me, right? She asks furiously

“I think I do, stay with me for a week. I’ll pay you then. You might choose to run away after this contract signing. then again, I can find you” I lean toward her. I can hear her heart beating fast. She rises the next second.

“Three days and I will get my advance pay”

“Deal?”

Is she trying to negotiate terms with me? She’s boiling me up. I have to give in to her demands. Mr. Kendrick and Mr.Andrew caused this. Why do I need to go through hell to prove that I am worthy of a contract?

On the brighter side of things, This could be a good business opportunity. I could apply for more contracts. I’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the business world. The fake models that flood my office day in and out to ask for appointments will stop. I won’t be denied entry to private ships and clubs for married folks. I’ll get to have conversations with Top world investors and they will trust me with her money. I can show her to the world and get recognition for that. She might be an asset. I bet this will be the best 6 months of my life. I was so furious at Mr. Ken at first but it turns out I have a lot to gain from it. I wonder why I never thought about marriage before now. I would have accomplished way more than I have.

Was marriage a hindrance or was I good without it.

My eyes lighten up as I stare at Camilla. She's here to right every wrong. I like this feeling.

She’s pretty too. I’m Sure She will fit into this world.

“Please sign it”

She signals for a pen and I willingly reach out to my pocket for one. My hand touches her and she looks up at me. Her eyes shine bright like the sun. She must be tensed but it will be over soon. She signs it and I do the same sealing our lives today for the next six months.

The best six months of our lives I assume

I need to head to the office. I accompany her out of the room and my mom’s eyes meet mine. She must be thinking of the worst.

“We just signed the contract Ma. I am getting the contract” I move toward her, tapping her shoulders and showing a bit of excitement. She has a look of suspicion in her eyes but I hope that clears it. She walks out and I call Asher to go take Camilla home.

Grinning from ear to ear I head for the office. This must be a great day. It has to.
