After the court had finished with the finer details of Winter's short-lived case, they began releasing everything from evidence back to the officers in charge. One officer in CID had inherited the task of dealing with the evidence lists, exhibit referencing and all the jobs no-one really wanted when it came to property and evidence. That officer, a keen, young Constable named DC Jenkins, received an email to inform him that everything could now be released. By 'released', it usually meant 'destroyed'.
