Chapter Thirty-One Emma Before going downstairs the next morning, I packed my clothes and called my parents to let them know I was coming home. My mother promised to make spaghetti, since she hadn’t seen me in weeks. I couldn’t wait to see them. Knowing Preston was about to lose his father made me appreciate having my parents even more. I didn’t want to take for granted the time I had with those I loved. When I found Preston in the kitchen, he’d already cooked breakfast. “Smells good,” I said, watching the muscles in his back ripple every time he moved.
