Find It Inc.

Chapter 15

We shall get back to Frankie and wrap up her side of the story but for now with us move on to our newly beloved wannabe villain: Donny. As you recall Donny is a shape-shifter who can also mimic others powers and T wants to use this to have a spy inside ‘Find It Inc.’ only to keep an eye on Caz and where she ends up. Caz is still in the office since the client did not yet give her permission to go. Well, Caz is actually at home resting up, planning, mapping and napping but you get the idea.

So today is Donny’s day to impress the boss, impress his co-workers and do what he has been reading to do all this time. This is the final exam to show how far he has come (mostly to his self) and he feels as if he is ready. As ready as he can ever be. As ready as anyone can ever be. He marches into the building and pushes the doors wide open that they hit the walls to announce his presence. He steps into the lift and glance at his calm reflection on the lift door. The lift stops on the floor and he steps out. He can hear trumpets in his ears and every step feels as if he is walking on the red carpet. People want him to be there. He wants to be there. With the flowing, smooth movements of his hand and a ‘knock, knock’ on the door of the office, he waits to be greeted by a face that will be struck with awe that he is here. That he came here. That he came here for them.

He waits.

Knock, knock.

The trumpets are still playing the red carpet is still under his feet. The closed door is merely building dramatic suspense and is not anything to be worried about. I mean normal people would have the trumpets in their ears die down and have the red carpet melt into the floor with the surrounding shadows becoming bigger and closer to engulf them… but not Donny. Nope. Everything is still there. The lights are even getting brighter with the arrival of more paparazzi hoping to catch a break such as Donny throwing up but not today little ones, not today. Donny is in the zone but more importantly the zone is in him, actually he is the zone.

Knock, knock.

Waiting.

Donny adjusts his collar to look even more outstanding as if that is even possible. Click. The door begins to open and Boss K is there looking at Donny. She says ‘come in’, he enters. He greets, he introduces, and he does everything with charm and grace, but not too much. He takes a seat in front of Boss K as if he has been here before; nay, as if he lives there. They notice his charm, they compliment his mind and they absolutely adore his skills. All it going well. He is asked to leave and that they will get back to him by tomorrow. What an interview, what a meeting, what a day, what a man. He exits the building with a skip in his whole body. He sees T hiding in the shadows but not so much that he cannot spot her. Donny smoothly makes his way towards her like a man on ice. He tells her the happening and she tells him…

“Go change and go again.”

What?

Wait, wait, wait.

You do not tell Donny the man of men, the man of women, and the man of Zs to go change. His performance was perfection. How dare you T? How. Dare. You?

But, alas, confident Donny is no more and he goes back to being the nervous man he was before the interview. He changes his clothes; he changes his face, his powers and story. The red carpet is gone and the paparazzi went to sleep. The lights have dim on Donny the man of men.

So he goes back and does the same interview again but with different answers. But the excitement is gone. ‘The over the top’ is erased. He comes out and T tells him to change and go back in. This happens many times each time having less and less internal energy. Oh Donny puts on a good show with an energized face but there is nothing underneath it. This is what T does: she sucks the attention from everyone even if the attention is only made up in their minds. The day passes and ‘Find It Inc.’ closes up for the day. Donny was the only one to go in for interviews so he will get the job no problem but which character is he going to be?

Donny gets a call from Boss K from ‘Find It Inc.’ which he knew would happen because why would it not (and come to think of it Boss K and Boss J should have hired someone before Frankie went on her assignment, poor planning on their part but do not tell them I said that, them and I are not on good terms). The call came early in the morning and Donny was asleep in his bed. The call woke him up with a mini heart attack because he thought it was T calling him to tell him he was three days late for work (she has been calling him a lot since she gave him this job. In the beginning it was quite cool to have one on one attention with the Boss but then Donny saw how insane she could be and felt as if they needed their space but then he would lose his job or his life depending on T’s mood) but it was only Boss J. He sees the number (which he saved so that he would be prepared to put on another voice asking them who they want to speak to so he knows which character they wanted to work with) and he answers. Boss J informs him that she would like to speak to ‘Donny Murray’ which was the very first character he entered with which looked like him and had dragon powers. He told Boss J that he would call Donny to the phone and after a few seconds he goes back onto the phone in his normal voice. He got the job, he starts tomorrow and all the ‘thank yous’ are exchanged. The phone goes down and Donny is tempted to call T for a change and gloat but Donny the man of men does not gloat. It is below him.

The following day Donny arrives to his ‘new job’ thinking it would be easy. All he had to do was babysit Caz but of course it was more complicated than that as Donny would soon find out. Donny walks into the office and takes a seat in the waiting area while Boss K runs around; bring and taking papers here and there and everywhere. It is a paper party. Everyone do the paper dance. Boss J calls Donny into her office and with a walk, skip, hop, walk, hop he is inside. Boss J is pleased to see him as he is her. He takes a seat and Boss J explains what he has to do with every now and then Boss K adding more information to the mix.

Yes he does have to look after the hunters and run to them when they are in aid (which is unlikely but he has to be forever on standby just in case) but in order to know where to run to he has to monitor and track them so that they do not get lost. Each of them has a tracker pinned on them which shows the Bosses where they are and there is a button to ask for help or for a lift back home. Great, so all Donny has to do is watch TV and ‘boom’ to the rescue. However, Boss J and Boss K go into detail about the past adventure that they had which involved traps that remake themselves or make other traps; other people hunting them down as well as wild animals. Mud, quicksand, if one of the hunters go completely off their track and get totally lost. All those things that happen and therefore, Donny needs to prepare for all three of the assignments so that he knows where to go, how to go, how to get there, and how to get back and out. Aka homework. Donny is not too keen on homework but he has to keep face and accept it.

Later that day after working (researching) at ‘Find It Inc.’ Donny goes back to his real job and reports his finding to T. Everything is to code and standard that there is nothing much to say. Frankie is off on her assignment and according to her tracker she has not finished yet (well she has but she is not ready to go home just yet) and Jo ran away to do her assignment and she is still doing it (we will get to Jo in time). Caz is at home most likely napping since the client did not say she could leave yet.

T is the client. T forgot about what she put in her own contract with ‘Find It Inc.’ She is a moron and is wasting her own time. With this new information T gets up and runs to her computer to send a message to tell Caz to get going. She then tells Donny that no matter what he keeps his eyes on Caz and reports back to her every five minutes. Yep every five minutes. T likes to make things complicated. I mean she can go there herself to follow Caz and make a mess that Dylan comes to save the day but fails and dies but this way is more fun for T.

Donny goes home and looks over the assignments focusing all of his attention on Caz’s one. It is a typical treasure hunt so it should be simple enough to cause concern and get T’s plan into motion. But the more and more Donny thinks about the plan that T came up with the less and less he views it as being worthwhile. I mean do not get him wrong he feels grateful, important and great to be a part of it, even a mayor part, but he thinks he could have come up with something better, simpler. It could be his sleepiness thinking since hosting two jobs while being a spy is not really easy (actually it is the excitement of starting to be a spy is what is making him tired since today is only his first day) or it could be the self-help books he has been studying. T makes plans but does not often get results so what is the point of her plans? And for someone who has been doing this a while she is not too good at it. The point of planning, research, practicing and even thinking is to get something in the end. People who say the journey is more important than the destination arrived at rubbish places. It is all about the end, where you end up.

Donny wonders off to sleep and he dreams. He dreams of T but not T but him as T only better, stronger and smarter. T is smart but arrogant. He can use this to bring her down and step above her. Donny may not be much but within every person there is another person that is more powerful than anyone else in the world. Someone who can take over the world by taking over the minds of the world. Not only the important people, let’s be honest who listening to the government? But everyone. Donny has this person inside of him who is slowly coming to the surface. This person is a better version of Donny. However, he will have to read more books to bring out the inner, better him.
