Chapter 19

To set the scene: we are in the office of ‘SoilCoal’ and we have Darryl standing next to the elevator looking at Richard who is standing diagonally away from Darryl and trying not to look directly in front of him where there is Jo (who is in human form and therefore naked) holding a random short woman on the floor. No one else is in the office nor will anyone else to come to the office (except the ambulance and the police; maybe sometime soon since there are still two dead bodies that have not been moved and one is in the kitchen). Are we all caught up? Well I am and that is what is important. Onwards to the story.

Darryl goes to his office and grabs rope which he keeps in his bottom drawer along with other random junk that he thinks he may need but has not ever needed until now. Darryl ties the short woman up while Richard goes to get something to cover Jo with. Jo said she does not mind being in the nude but Richard does not like looking at a naked woman outside of the bedroom because it feels weird to him. He does not even like looking at his past lovers showering. The short woman is tied to a chair and our three guys are standing in front of her. She has not said a word.

Jo looks at Richard and asks if this is X? Richard says it is not and that his theory was wrong. He also says that he does not know who she is and at that very moment the woman burst out into snot filled tears. Her crying was so loud that no one could hear each other and their voices were growing tired of trying to scream at each other to be heard. The only thing that could be gathered from that mess of noises was that Darryl also had no idea of who she is. When the woman finally stopped crying she did something that answered Jo’s question of how she was able to move without being seen or to get into a room with only one door without using the only one door. She is able to vibrate through matter. Due to this she was able to get free from the ropes only to have Jo go full werewolf mode again and jump on her to catch her before she left.

However, it backfired because the woman was able to vibrate down to the first floor taking Jo with her (that was how she got Cindy into the small storage room). It was a long, strange fall that was broken up into pieces. They vibrate, fall, vibrate, fall until the bottom floor (good thing there is no basement). The woman is unable to get out of Jo’s grip because every time she tried Jo would move her hands and the woman would have to start her vibrating over again. The two boys joined them on the first floor and Darryl asked the woman to stop and talk to them. However, the woman did not take his words into account at all and kept on trying to escape.

She only stopped when Richard said he was sorry that he could not remember her. The woman looked up at Richard for a short moment and said: “I am ready to speak.” Her voice was that of a mature five year old that knew too much for her body and mind to handle. They took her back up to the office and she did not try to escape or caused any more issues. At the office they tied her to the chair again (mostly because it made them feel better because any resistance to her vibrating through something is better than nothing).

And now we shall go to a flashback. About three years ago the vibrating five year old sounding woman came to the big city in the search of love and desire, well in search of the idea of love and desire. She did not know anyone and no one knew her. She decided to go by the name “Pineapple” because they were sweet on the inside but strange looking on the outside. Have you ever tried biting into a pineapple? I have not and I do not wish to therefore they look weird. So Pineapple did not have a good life in the country side and hence why she moved.

Pineapple saved up and had enough to get herself sorted out in the new city. She got a flat, got a car and even managed to get a job working in a clothing store. The hours were long but the pay was good since it was one of those fancy stores that sell expensive bow ties and shirts that look the same as the cheap one but the material must be different or something.

One day while Pineapple was working. She was in the back shorting out the fancy socks when in walks… Richard. The bell that does off when you enter the store went off and one of the people working with Pineapple went to ask Richard if he needed any help. He said he was just looking but when he spoke, little Pineapple fell in love (well she fell in the idea of love plus to be fair he does have a nice speaking voice). Richard wondered around the store touching shirts and feeling ties. Pineapple stayed in her corner hiding among the socks so that no one could see her. Richard would look at the price tag and flinch at how much it was. After a while he waved good bye to the other worker and went off home.

Pineapple could not, did not and wanted not to get the image and sound of Richard out of her mind. She fell heart first and mind never. She made stories of him and her in her mind, how they would meet, where, when, how the relationship would grow and develop. How they would sit on the couch and playfully argue over their favorite television show of whom the killer is and who the killer is not. Their kids (well she did not get that far but she would have with time). She convinced herself that he is her soulmate and that she is his.

One day Richard was walking to work and Pineapple followed him. She saw where he worked and figured out how to get around with her vibrating power. The woman found it easy to get in and out of places since she had to all the time when she was younger. She saw how much he was getting paid and thought it was too little for her hard working lover and she had imagined her elf-looking dwarf sweetheart coming home every day unbelievable tired. She decided to take a bit more and put it to the side and to surprise him for his birthday even though she had no clue when it was to be fair Richard does not know when his own birthday is either, he just picks a day at random every year and celebrates it that day, he like the randomness and his mother like her son being happy. Because of this birthday at random system Pineapple would always miss his birthdays.

Then Jo came into the picture and Pineapple got the idea that Richard fancied Jo a touch which was not an issue since Jo is an attractive character and Pineapple and Richard were soulmates known only to her. The issue was that Pineapple got the idea that the “reason” why Richard does not get paid more is because the boss has a fixed amount to spend on employees’ salaries and therefore when someone new comes in he has to split it evenly and therefore people get less than what they did before. So if there are fewer people working Richard and the rest of the living would get more. Pineapple does not understand how business works and she is wrong and very much confused. They tried to correct her on this but she just looks at them blankly and carries on with her story.

She admits that she would follow Richard around but she saw herself more of a long distance guardian. One day she even followed him all the way to his family home where she saw him get a pair of pants from his grandmother in that material that Jo found at Cindy’s desk as a clue. Pineapple has two good eyes for materials and was able to find the same kind of pants and wore them often. She said she would wear them when she misses Richard.

She only planned the murders the afternoon before and that is why they were random. Pineapple made it into a game to impress Richard with how creative she was with murder. She though he would find it cute and funny which he did not. After all was said by Pineapple, Jo asked her why she does not have a scent and where did she get the bunch of keys that were in her pant pocket? The keys were stolen but she copied them and put the original back. She is a killer but a thief she is not (unless it is money she is stealing). The reason why she has no scent was because she was born without any. It is rare but it happens. When she was a baby she would be in full diapers for a long time because no one could smell anything on her so they thought there was nothing to change. At the beginning she would cry about it but later on she stopped crying.

The three of them looked at her then at each other, back at her and then to each other again. For luck. Darryl pulled up two chairs: one for Jo and the other for Richard and then he went to get one for himself. There was a moment of silence while thoughts were racing and tongues were tied. What do you say to someone like this? How do you say it? What do you do? Who do you call? Pineapple is unstable and a murderer but she thought she was doing good for Richard, a man she only just met, today. The three of them rolled into Darryl’s office while keeping an eye on Pineapple. They could send her to jail but she can easily get out. They need to talk and think; think and talk and while they are doing that I am going to take you to another flash back. A further flash back flash back.

As you gathered Pineapple was abused. Her family were not good people and they did not care for her at all. Her mother was absent while being in the world of drugs and additions while her father would often join her there. Pineapple was different and her parents were not keen on this trait for their child. They would often try to beat the different out of her but that never worked. Not only did she have no scents but her mind was strange. She would get addicted to stories and ideas. Some were her own (like the one with Richard) and some were other people’s. These stories were not an escape but a drug that wrapped up her mind but her parents only saw the differences not the similarities. Plus they were too gone to help her or help themselves. That is why Pineapple moved in an attempt to escape her life, but she fell right back into the delusions and this time she stayed there.

The three of them come out of the office and told Pineapple what they have decided would be the best course for them and her. She listened. They informed her that she needs help and that Richard and she are not in love. She freaked out and tried to vibrate out again but Jo stopped her. She would only keep still when Richard spoke so he did all the talking.
