Chapter 11- Some News

962 Words
Nora's POV:      I met with Bryan later that evening and was happy to see that he had come with at least one of each of my favourite things. He had definitely used our conversations in my dreams to his advantage. Now that I was more calm, I was able to see more of his features. He was about 6'2" and had slightly tanned, creamy skin. He had chiseled features, a strong upper body and lower half. His suit fit him well and though I could see the tiredness in his eyes, his smile told a completely different story. Never had anyone looked as happy to see or as pleased to be in my company. I wasn't even nervous about him meeting Sarah. It felt like he had already met her since I had basically told him everything about her. We had been messaging throughout the day in between meetings and agreed he would pick me up from home. Sarah was so excited to meet a man I was interested in and decided to wait with me for him. He wasn't a minute late. Sarah was impressed. He was not uncomfortable in the least around her. He thanked her for being so good to me and looking out for me.      We took off, just the two of us, for a drive through the city and each talked about our day. That was when I found out about his business ventures and more about his life. Why couldn't I have realized it was him from all those years ago? The cute boy I had found the locket with was here with me now. It was him in my dream sometime ago. That meant my dream was really a memory; a good memory. I recounted the dream to him. He filled me in on that day and what happened after. It seemed like we were really close. He said I had been introduced to him as Alleyne. that was indeed my middle name. I explained to him as much as I could remember from my youth around that time. I explained my memory loss to him. He couldn't believe I had been through so much. We talked about my parents and their situation. He figured it was something we could fix together if they were willing to let us help.      I believed him when he said the locket had led him to me. That locket had looked mystical back then and even more so now that I had it in my hands, all cleaned up and polished. It was gleaming an unearthly yellow and had the same blue flower imprinted on it. He explained how he came to learn what it was and how to use it. It was truly a remarkable tale. It was a tale of love. How this man dedicated so much of his love towards me was too sweet for me. I found myself crying during certain parts of his story. It was a wonderful evening filled with tears, laughter , the occasional tickle fight and when it was time to say goodbye, I couldn't resist stealing a few hundred kisses from him. He was only here for one day and had a flight booked for that very night. He promised to visit me in my dreams as he did before and he assured me I could call or message him at anytime during the day that I felt like.      Some time goes by and Bryan stays true to his words. He came to me every night in my dreams, sent me presents randomly and messaged me everyday before my alarm clock clock could wake me. Anothr man as close to perfect as he was, I could not find. Everyone seemed to notice my happiness and I was happy to share my happiness with everyone. A smile for a smile and some kindnessfor those who needed it. I was wiping down the tables at work one day when I got a message asking me to go to a lawyer's office downtown. The man on the line introduced himself as a lawyer's clerk and said I needed to come in about important matters pertaining to my parents. It turns out, when I got there, my mother had passed away. She had had a blood clot in her brain which left her in and out of coma for some months. She was hospitalized for the last two weeks before she died. My father had fallen even deeper into his drinking and died not longer after from blood poisoning and grief. The house they lived at had long been put up as collateral for debts they had incurred and as such, the house would not be inherited by anyone but rather, sold to pay off outstanding debts.       I couldn't believe how much I had missed out on. I couldn't believe they had pushed me out like that. The way both my mother and my father had lunged at me for cash a few months ago. It was all surreal. The house being used to pay off their debts came as no surprise to me. The way my parents died though, that brought tears to my eyes. Despite the way they had treated me, I still loved them dearly and wished they had left differently. Would I ever really know what caused them to have been that way? I felt sorry for them. Bryan and I didn't even get that chance we had talked about to try reconciling with them. Days went by and it was still hard for me to get over my loss. Only Bryan could help ease my pain but those times away from him, in dreams, the time between each text or call, during those times, my grief had the upper hand.
