Chapter Twenty

886 Words
Ben stayed three days until the funeral but he had to get back to work. “I’m sorry, honey, but I need to stay with my Mom right now,” Reyanna told him with her arms around his neck. “I don’t want to leave you, but I have meetings Monday I have to get ready for. I have a lot of computer work I could do here, but then I would have to be at work Monday morning,” he was explaining to her why he had to leave. “Ben, honey, it’s okay. You go do what you have to do,” she told him, kissing him softly on the lips. “But I’ll miss you so much, my love. We’ve been together every day for almost three months now. I don’t know what I’ll do without seeing you,” he said, holding her face in his hands. “I’ll miss you too, honey, but we will get through this time. I’ll text you every morning and call you every night,” she promised. Ben gave her a pouty lip. “Bring your Mom to the mansion with us,” he suggested. “Ben, now you’ve got to be a big boy and understand this. We have a lot of paperwork to do and a lot of stuff to do,” she scolded, kissing him again. “I know. I love you,” he said. “I’ll be back as soon as I can, though,” he promised. “Okay, my big baby, you’ll be okay, but you’d better get going before it gets late,” Reyanna told him. “One more good kiss,” he said and kissed her fully before he went to his car. Once Ben got about a mile away, he called Reyanna. “You miss me yet?” He asked, teasing her. “Of course I do. I forgot to tell you I love you before you left,” she said. “You love your honey bear?” He asked. “I love you so much!” She told him. “Okay, I just had to hear your voice one more time,” he said. “ “Be careful, Honey. I’ll see you soon,” she said. Reyanna wiped a tear from her eye. She really did miss him already. He was right, they had been together every day for three months now, and it was going to be an adjustment without him. Every night and every morning they talked on the phone, and texted throughout the day. Reyanna missed him so badly, but she was keeping it in until the third day there was a knock on their door. It was a delivery guy with a dozen red roses and a big brendal colored teddy bear. The note read, “You can hug this bear until you can hug your Honey Bear.” When she read the note, she could hold back her tears no longer. She missed her big ole Honey Bear so much! Melissa went to her and hugged her. “Sweetheart, I’ve got the rest. We’ve got the important part done. Call that man and tell him to come get you,” her mother told her. “No, Mom, I’m gonna stay here and help you,” Reyanna protested. “Honey, you’ve been daydreaming about him all day. He needs you and you need him. Go to your man. I’m fine, I promise,” Melissa assured her. Reyanna hugged her mother before going to call Ben. “Do you miss me, yet?” She asked. “You know I do. Did you get your new friend?” He asked. “I did, and I love him….but he made me miss my Honey Bear,” Reyanna told him. “Will you send a car for me?” She asked timidly. “I’ll be right there, Baby Girl. I’ll be right there,” Ben assured her. He hung up the phone and smiled happily. “Your woman coming home?” Phillip asked. Ben nodded. “Thank God! You’ve been useless since she’s been gone!” Phillip teased. Ben threw a stress ball across the desk at him, but his smile never left. “I gotta go get my woman!” Ben said. “Go! Get out of here! You haven’t done anything all day anyhow,” his brother teased. Ben shoved him playfully before grabbing his jacket and leaving the office. He couldn’t wait to see her pretty face. He smiled thinking of her big brown eyes and those adorable dimples when she smiled. “My cute little nurse, I’m coming to bring you home,” he said when she answered the phone. “I’ll be ready to give you a big hug when you get here,” she promised. “I like hugs….but kisses are even better,” he said, smiling. “I’ll have some kisses for you too,” she promised. Four hours later Ben knocked on the door. Reyanna opened the door and threw herself into his arms with hugs and kisses. Melissa smiled as she watched the two love bugs. “I hate to see you two if you ever have to spend a whole week apart,” she teased. They didn’t respond, though, they were too busy devouring each other with kisses.
