I'm shook awake by my uncle.

"ROXY WHAT HAPPENED"

I rub my eyes.

"Nothing uncle I just fell asleep reading again, what's the time?"

"Rox there's blood on your bed. "

I jump to my feet and there is and quiet abit of it.

What the f**k? But how I didn't sleep on anything.

"Rox your shirt is scratched up, You were attacked in your dreams weren't you?"

My uncle questions

I freeze with anxiety.

"It's okay your safe, the motion sensors detected nothing.

Get yourself cleaned up and ignore it.

Don't give it power and get ready for College"

With that my uncle leaves the room.

Maybe I won't make it to 40 after all..

I look in the mirror and there is a large scratch on my back. It's already dried up, I clearly need to be ready for a fight even in my dreams.

After cleaning myself up I throw on a black long sleeve play suit and a pair of high waisted skinny jeans. I match the outfit with a pair of black short heeled knee high boots. I store my blades in them

And lastly I tie my long hair in a ponytail.

Uncle steves pov.

With Roxy already been attacked in her sleep I need to call Jon.

Roxy doesn't know I'm able to reach her Father, but it was Jon's wishes. I don't ask questions. I just want to keep her safe.

Jon answers the phone.

"It's started?"

"Yeah lastnight she's got a wound on her back from them"

"She will be taken to the founding land, now the shadows have found her"

"But she's not ready, I'll do everything I can to prevent anything else. She's starting her first day of college today''

"Steve it's for the best and if my theory is correct"

"Bye brother"

I hang up.

I don't want to hear the fairytale theory about how some magical being should rescue his daughter because she's special.

she's going to be the last one.

I don't get it but if someone is coming to take her to safety then I can't argue.

"Hey Rox !! Take the dodge to school if ya like."

~Roxy's pov~

Did he just say take the charger ?? f**k yessss ! It feels like my birthday already eeee!

Unknowns pov.

'' listen up you two.. we take the Darling tonight."

"Oh so soon? We didn't get the chance to play''

"There will be plenty of time for that later. We have to beat them too her so prepare, watch her today and report back before sunset"

"Yes boss"

~Roxy's pov~

I hug my Uncle tight

"Thank you, thank you so much I have always wanted Ted to drive this car "

My uncle owns a 1970 dodge charger rs and its been my dream car since I was little and watched Fast and Furious for the first time.

I have asked him so many times to let me drive it but he always refused but today he actually offered !

"Yeah yeah don't thank me. I just thought incase you needed a get away car why not something with 900 horse power ? "

I rolls my eyes and throw my book bag on the passengers seat.

'' don't worry I'll come straight home once classes have finished"

"Good girl watch your back and be safe''

I egite the engine and it rumbles. it's that eye rollingly good sound. I give it a little as I take off and of course she doesn't dissapoint.

My thrill is short lived as the town is small and the college isn't that far, but a new excitement is replaced when I pass through the gates into the carpark. My first day outside of the Darling estate.

I didn't think about how much attention the car would attract, not only that it's probably more strange that a women is driving it. I chuckle to myself and park. Eyes are on me feel it, thank God for super tinted windows. I double check that my blades are secure.

I take a deep breath grabbing my bag..

I lock the car and head towards the stairs, I receive a few friendly nods and waves also the odd wolf whistle, feeling my faceflushe every time.

I knew it wasn't going to be all smiles tho, I heard a few girls whisper about my "weird" features.

After a few minutes i find my locker and throw my bag in. I take my tablet out and throw a pen behind my ear.

when i close my locker I basically bump into a group of guys waiting for me to finish. They are all wearing matching jackets so I can assume they play a sport for the college, football maybe?

"now this is the kind of fresh meat I hoped for this year yeww!''

This guy wears a 01 on his jersey so I assume he's Captain of the team.

His mates laugh and eye me like an object.

" you got a name newbie"

" it's Roxy"

"I'm Tod, Captain of the football team and your new lover"

This guy is cheesy I have read so many books with dudes like these uhh frat boys I think the term is ?

" and you are confident but most certainly mistaken"

"We will see sweetheart"

"Nice to meet you Cap"

I wave as I walk down the hall leaving the team by the lockers.

While I focus on finding my professors room I get a random chill up my spine Instantly I'm alert. I can still see Tod and his team down by the lockers. They now have a few cheerleaders hanging off them, Is someone else watching me then?

I continue to walk and I find my class.

The professor has me introduce myself. Once again I'm met with smiles, whispers and a few whistles, I'm guessing tods team mates. By the looks thrown in this class to make up for shitty marks in other subjects probably.

I know it may sound silly but this makes me so happy. It really is so similar to what I have read and watched on TV. It's soo.. normal !

I take my seat and the professor starts his lecture. He talks about character description and the importance of painting that picture for your readers to vision the characters well. but also remembering to leave enough room for your readers to add their own personal fantasies and touches.

I take note of this.

Because I haven't met that many people I always created characters and personalities in my hobby novels.

This was a lecture I was going to enjoy. While taking notes a piece of paper hits me in the back of my head. As I pick it up I hear my uncles voice ring in my head

"YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING".

"WHY DIDNT YOU CATCH IT"

"BE ALERT"

Blah blah blah..

I open it, wow it's 2 stick figures going at it with a bunch of question marks. The guy figure is wearing the number 01 horribly drawn.

Regrettably i do blush,

I haven't even had my first kiss yet I know it's embarrassing. I've been busy being protected and locked away my whole life and learning how to protect myself.

I take the opportunity to f**k with who ever threw it. I'm sure Tod would appreciate it too.

I scrunch it back up and sneakily drop it by my foot and kick it down the stair rows.It rolls and stops by a random girl.

I hear behind me

"Nonono s**t"

The girl opens it and almost jumps from her seat.

She spins around and screams

" yes! "

Everyone laughs and I can't help but join in. The football guys sink in embarrassment and the professor has a hard time settling the class after that.

The bell goes and I'm the last to leave the room. I thank the professor for his lecture today, he seemed surprised I thanked him. Maybe it's not very common. I was the only girl raised in an old fashioned male ran estate. So it's branded into me to show respect to my seniors.

I head to my locker to grab the apple and water I left behind. And as I turn I see Todd and the girl who opened up the drawing from earlier.

He seemed so uncomfortable and I couldn't help but giggle outloud.

He notices out of the corner of his eye and shakes his head.

Don't get me wrong he's good looking, pretty tall about 6ft, nice build, brown eyes. Sandy blonde hair short back and sides hair cut, Very stereotypical Captain of the football team guy.

I'd be happy to be friends but he's not the kinda guy I'd let in my pants.

The rest of the day goes by like a textbook college day. I can't say I made any friends but judging by the glares I'm getting by some cheerleaders on my way to the car park right now. I think I've left quite the impression on a certain group of people.

Speaking of certain people I'm about to pull the car key out of my pocket when Todd pulls up in a Jeep with a few mates.

"Hey Roxy can I give you a ride, can't let a pretty little thing like you walk home by yourself, I'd be failing as your future lover"

I chuckle.

And pull the key from my pocket.

everyone in the Jeep eyes the Dodge I'm standing by.

" uhh thanks for the offer Todd but I like my ride much better"

I get in and start her up and pulling up next to him.

"Okay so you've got the look going for ya but can you actually drive somthing like that"

He questions and he doesn't need to ask me twice.

with a few nice tones and burnt rubber smell, I leave Todd and his crew in a cloud of smoke..

I wonder if I'm going to get in trouble for that tomorrow haha oops.

What a thrill today has been!

Driving back to my uncles I swear I see 2 men standing on the roof of the clock tower. I was going too fast to be 100 percent certain so I throw her in reverse and pull up.

I get out to get a better look.

Nope nothing hmm strange.

The sunset blinds me for a second and while I'm rubbing my eyes.

"Roxy"

I instantly go for my blade

"Darling"

Where have I heard these voices before?

I ready to throw my knife in the direction of my name but nothing is there.Chills run over me so I get in my car and speed home without stopping.

I walk in the door Uncle Steve is waiting for me. He looked worried when I first walked in but his face soon relaxes.

"How was your first day"

" I was great actually"

"Did you make any friends"

"Hmm no but let's just say the schools football team is fun to pull the piss out of"

My Uncle laughs

"I hope I don't have to give you the f**k boy speech Rox"

"Definitely not!! the last person I want to hear any birds bees talks from is my player uncle''

"Player? I don't know what your talking about I simply appreciate women"

" when you appreciate one women then I'll change my mind"

"Ya know its not unusual for us Darlings to have more then one lover at a time. Call it polygamousy.

Your Grandfarthers theory is that we are descendants from fairies"he winks and

We laugh.

"So about what happened this morning Rox I think it will be best to skip on training for a few days. If your exhausted you may dream deeper and I don't want you getting hurt again"

I yeah I almost forgot about the scratch on my back.

"Now that you mention it uncle today was great don't get me wrong but I just felt like I was being watched. Then I heard my name being called in thin air by voices I had heard before. But I can't seem to recall from where or atleast they feel familiar"

" I'm sorry kiddo this is going to be the new norm for you. Our blood line is an absolute pain in the ass. It makes me not want to have children"

"I hope father finds somthing i'd do what ever I could to take back control of my own future and break this curse"

" I know you would rox I hope he does too"

Something seems off about Uncle Steve tonight. He seems almost sad and he hasn't spoken to me with so much emotion in his voice and face before. I wonder if what happened this morning scared him.

Uncle steves pov.

I have no idea who's coming to fetch roxy. I tried calling her father back many times throughout the day but the number no longer exists anymore. Whoever it is they better come soon. I'm sensing somethings coming and what ever it is, it's not good.
