I quickly settled into life with the archaeological team. Before long, I had built friendships with my colleagues and grown confident in the fieldwork. Every day spent at the excavation reminded me that I was capable of building a future on my own. After three days working in the mountains, our team descended to the nearby village for a two-day break before returning to the dig. As soon as we reached the village entrance, several locals greeted us warmly. After exchanging a few pleasantries, one of them smiled at me. "Someone from the city has been looking for you. He's been waiting here for two days." My heart skipped a beat. I already knew who it had to be. When we returned to our guesthouse, I hadn't even finished pouring myself a cup of coffee before someone knocked on my door.
