The street was silent. A thick darkness cloaked the buildings, stretching long shadows across the cracked sidewalks. Sasha melted into the alleyway, her back pressed to the wall as her hazel-green eyes scanned for movement. She waited for the last sliver of moonlight to pass over the building before slipping out of the shadows. The red door loomed at the front of the building — obvious, too obvious. It was either under surveillance or rigged to blow. Damien wasn’t stupid. She knew better. Her eyes darted along the edges of the building. Then she spotted it — a side door half-covered in grime and rust. The perfect blind spot. She crept over, keeping low, and pulled a set of lockpicks from her belt. The lock gave a soft click, and the door creaked open into silence. She stepped inside.
