Chapter 6 His Hidden Sweetheart?

986 Words
The entire building was buzzing with gossip! Just as Amelia mentioned in the office group chat that she had received a woman who might be Nicholas' lover, the company suddenly announced the appointment of a new director for the Talent Management Department! Everyone speculated whether they could be the same woman. Stella, wearing a mask, toured the various floors of the company. Seeing the curious and suspicious looks from everyone, she knew things were going according to plan. Starting as a director would allow her to investigate discreetly, familiarize herself with the company's operations, and quietly blend in with the staff. Later, she planned to clean the house thoroughly. ***** In the evening... At Boston Park Hotel, a top-tier banquet was about to begin. Socialites and executives were mingling at the entrance. A Lamborghini Huracán pulled up to the front. Osborne stepped out with Nina on his arm. He wore a silver-gray suit, his tall, muscular frame complemented by his neatly combed blond hair. His turquoise eyes sparkled like gems. Nina wore a green, fluffy long dress paired with matching jewelry. He exuded an imposing and regal air, while she looked elegant and gentle, capturing everyone's attention. As they appeared, the crowd buzzed with excitement. "Wow, Osborne looks so handsome! Who's the lady with him? She's so graceful!" "Don't they look perfect together? Aww, I'm so jealous." "Could she be Osborne's wife, the one who hasn't been seen in public for three years? They're such a perfect match!" Feeling the envious stares from the socialites, Nina proudly lifted her chin. She was an illegitimate child who had been looked down upon by those self-proclaimed high-class ladies. But so what? Osborne was definitely going to marry her, and she would become a celebrated figure at these high-society events. Eventually, she had faith that she would be Boston's number-one socialite! "Wow! It's Nicholas Rosenberg from Nova Group!" Just as Nina was basking in her pride, the crowd erupted again. A limited-edition Rolls-Royce Wraith smoothly drove in, stopping at the special guest section in the center of the banquet. Nicholas stepped out first, wearing a custom white suit. His towering height of 6'2" and his casually handsome face drew gasps from the gathered socialites. Then, everyone saw him smiling, bowing slightly, and extending his hand to help someone out of the car. The rumor that Nicholas, who never brought a date, had arrived with a woman? The crowd craned their necks to see. First, a pair of slender legs appeared, adorned with expensive black diamond heels. The velvet-like ribbons around her ankles added a touch of grace. Next, a black mermaid-style gown, a limited edition, highlighted her curves perfectly. The hem was encrusted with tiny diamonds, reflecting dazzling light with every step, making it impossible to look away. When the woman finally lifted her head, the crowd was dazzled. Delicate eyebrows, cool blue eyes, and chestnut hair pulled back with a few loose strands framing her face, adding a hint of mystery to her regal beauty. She resembled a black swan—noble, alluring, and untouchable. Standing directly in front of them, Nina showed not just amazement but shock. Nicholas' date turned out to be... "Stella?!" Hearing someone call her name, Stella turned her head, her face expressionless. She had anticipated Osborne and Nina showing up, but ever since Osborne demanded her apology at the villa, her heart had turned completely cold. Now, Osborne was just her ex-husband, a nobody. With a polite smile, she took Nicholas' arm and moved forward to mingle. Seeing Stella and Nicholas approaching, Nina was not only surprised but also instinctively turned to look at Osborne. His eyes were fixed on Stella, clearly shocked, but his face was dark, filled with a mix of disbelief and confusion. After what happened earlier that day, he had felt a bit guilty. But in just a few hours, she had completely transformed herself and was now with another man? So, she started dressing up just because she had a new guy? Tonight, she did look stunning, breathtakingly so. In three years of marriage, he had never realized Stella could be this gorgeous. It made him think she had been wasted as a housewife. Was Nicholas her new man? Divorced in the morning, and had someone else by evening? Osborne felt a strange turmoil inside, his gaze growing colder, on the brink of anger. He stared at Stella as she approached, ready to demand an explanation. But as they got close, Stella and Nicholas turned away to greet the CEO of Astral Group, completely ignoring Osborne! This act clearly showed Stella didn't care about him at all. And Nicholas seemed hostile towards him as well. It seemed they saw him as somewhat of an outsider! Osborne's face grew darker, and Nina's expression turned uneasy. Just moments ago, she had been ready to deliver some perfectly timed remarks, but now she was left standing awkwardly, her prepared words stuck in her throat. Osborne's sister, Emma, had also arrived at the banquet. She had been enjoying champagne in the hall when she heard the commotion at the entrance and came out. She nudged Nina gently. "Nina, why is that b***h here?" Nina's eyes lit up, and she whispered, "You haven't heard? Stella and Osborne got divorced this morning. I didn't expect her to find someone new so quickly. I wish her all the best." Emma's face turned livid. "You wish her all the best?!" She glared at Stella, who was mingling with Nicholas. "Osborne divorced her in the morning, and she had another man bring her to this high-end event by evening?! That b***h must have been cheating on Osborne! I swear I'm going to ruin her!" Emma was like a firecracker, ready to explode at the slightest spark. She stormed towards Stella immediately. Nina pretended to stop her, but a sly smile played at the corners of her lips.
