Tears burned waiting to come out.
“Chris, I just…I can’t.”
“Then I will just prove it to you.”
I needed to change the subject and quickly. The more he talked about us as together, the more I wanted to believe him.
“Bella,” I snapped out.
“Bella?”
“For her name. It means beautiful.”
“I love it.” He said as he came closer to me and dropped to the floor.
“Do you hear that, Bella? I think mommy and I found your name.” Just like that, she started kicking.
“I think she likes it,” I said with a smile.
“Yeah, I think she does.”
“What, um well, I know you didn’t want me to have your last name, but do you want Bella to share your last name?”
The look on his face was filled with regret.
“I will forever be sorry for that, but I would love for both of you to share my last name.”
