By 2:30am I was awake and couldn’t go back to sleep so decided to get started with work anyways, unlike any other day there was this unsettling feeling that kept me feeling anything but good about this day and as much as I’d hate to admit it was the same as the day mother left us.
Or you’re just overthinking I reasoned shaking off any bad aura and getting myself immersed with more papers and contract reviews.
I could hear distant hushed voice speaking in incorrigible language I couldn’t make out-
“Lena dear are you not feeling well?” I gently raised my head only to meet Aunty Miriam and Qwesi’s worried face.
“Yes please, how are you too?”
“Why did you have to sleep here?” Qwesi asked before Aunty Miriam could answer.
“I’m good. See you later today after work okay?”
