Chapter 9:  Cream of the Crop

I was about to put the book back on the shelf where Yuu got it when I decided to look at the last page. This book is quite old, and I doubt that it can't be found in any other library. I reached the book's final page and saw a portrait of the author. The author appears to be a recognized face. I believe I recognize the author. I took a closer look at the author since it reminded me of someone I know. When I realized who the author was, I got goosebumps. I dash back to the shelf to return the book. No one else should have access to that book ever.

I didn't realize Yuu was already close by, and he was just behind me. "You appear nervous," he observed. "Please don't bother me! You're filthy! " As I pushed him away, I said. I'm hoping he didn't read the book and see what I did. "Is everything okay?" he inquired. "Stop asking questions and simply go out," I advised. I keep shoving him out the door of the library. I locked the door to the library. I said, "Never come to the library, okay?" He glances at me, as if he's mystified as to why I told him that. "When you see the book, you act differently. Is there something you're hiding from me?" he inquired. I needed to relax and respond to his question. I don't want him to believe I'm concealing something. "I just don't want you to assume I like reading children's books, or that I have a collection of children's books," I explained, rolling my eyes.

"Make a promise to me that you won't tell anyone about that book!" I screamed. "I guarantee I won't! I swear! ", he stated. We stepped outside the mansion and were aided by the guards. They picked us up in our two-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle and drove us to town. Now I need to pay more attention to Takahashi. I need to be there to defend him since I fear he is in danger. "You appear concerned," Yuu observed. "Stop bothering me and mind your own business," I told him. His arms were crossed. Is he imitating my demeanor?! "How about you quit acting like a brat in front of me," he said. I slapped him across the face. What a jerk. I hit him on the cheeks, and he touched his cheeks.

He remained cool and deafeningly silent. He didn't move and just stared at me. He showed no signs of insanity to me. "You have no right to tell me what to do in your presence. Please don't tell me what to do. You have no authority to tell me what I should do, "I stated. He burst out laughing. Look at him; he makes me want to slap him even harder. He acts as if I didn't just slap him in the face. "I'll tell Takahashi what you said last night if you keep being a brat," he warned. "Are you trying to scare me?" I asserted myself. I instantly remembered what I said the night before. Wait! So, he's aware of my feelings for Takahashi! Why did I speak those words in front of this man? I'm so foolish!

He laughed and said, "So do you remember now?" "You have no right to threaten me like that!" I stated. I was ready to slap him when he grabbed my wrist and stopped me. He muttered, "I won't tell a soul." "So, relax, woman," he added. I lowered my hand. My blood is boiling because of this guy. If he ever becomes my opponent in a game, I believe I will murder him. I have no other option. I'd rather die than let Takahashi know that I have feelings for him. Takahashi, on the other hand, has a crush on someone else. He probably likes Tori, so he won't look at me the same way he looks at Tori. Tori is slimmer, younger, and prettier. Who knows, maybe he likes long-haired women. "Don't be insecure, you're gorgeous," Yuu said while looking around.

"What are you talking about?!!" I punched his shoulder. How could he know I was thinking that way? "You appear to be comparing yourself to other girls," he observed. Is he able to read people's minds? "I have no idea what you're talking about, and there's no reason why I should compare myself to other girls when I'm so much superior," I boasted. But, in reality, I am highly comparable to Tori. I feel confident in my ability to defend him and fight for him. I can provide him with enough fortune in life that we will no longer need to work and play to make money. I suppose I'm a little more attractive than Tori. My brow furrows. I need to stop overthinking things! Yuu begins to laugh once more. "Hey! Why are you laughing so loudly? " I let out a yell. "You appear to be in a terrible mood," he said. This guy irritates me a lot. "Whatever, let's just look at Takahashi," I murmured, crossing my arms.

Takahashi POV

In the game lobby, I was waiting. I'm curious as to why Yuu and Saki are still missing. Tori has been left alone in the house. She has stated that she does not enjoy playing and that she is terrified of dying. Tori proposes that, in exchange for living in my house for a bit, she will only do the housework. Tori doesn't have to do those duties and can simply live in that house for free and be cute all day. Saki and Yuu are becoming close to one another, according to what I saw. Saki recognized me and gave me a kind wave. She placed her hand on Yuu's shoulder, signaling that she had noticed me. Yuu began to smile and wave at me. They both rush towards me, as though they are overjoyed to see me.

He tapped my shoulders and yelled, "Hey!" It was actually quite painful since he was tapping my shoulder quite forcefully. "How are you doing? Last night, you were very intoxicated, "he stated. "I-I'm alright, but I still have a hangover," I explained. Because I'm still dizzy, I don't want to leave the apartment. "Do you recall anything from last night?" he asks, laughing hysterically. Saki chokes her and punches her in the head. "If you ask any more questions, you'll end up with several broken bones," she said. I have no idea what they're talking about because I have no recollection of what happened last night. "Actually, I have no memory of what happened last night," I admitted.

He answered, "That's great to hear.". Saki stopped choking and striking him. I have the impression that Yuu's soul has returned to his body. "Are you all right, Yuu?" I inquired. "He's OK," she stated emphatically. "You're fine, right?!" she demanded angrily. "Yes, Ma'am!" Yuu responded. I have the impression that these two are concealing something from me, but it's probably unimportant. They appear to be at ease in each other's company. "Where did you sleep?" I inquired. "I'm sorry we didn't say goodbye properly," she apologized. "You won't believe this brother, but Saki lives in A-," Yuu remarked, his eyes enlarging. Saki puts his hand over Yuu's mouth to make him stop talking. There's something weird about these two.

Yuu claps and touches our backs, as if he's come up with a new idea or plan. "Since Saki and I already know where we are strong at, our aim for today is to discover a game that is appropriate for you," he explained. Is there a game that I would enjoy? Because I lack talent, I have no idea what kind of game would be appropriate for me. "After your last combat, you demonstrated excellent skills with a bow and arrow, so the game we'll play is..." Yuu said. He begins to imitate the sound of the drum roll while pretending to be drumming. He yelled, "Arrow Void!" I've never heard of Arrow Void, but I'm guessing it's about archery and a test of ability.

"Are you insane?! If that's the game we're playing, we'll be battling until only one person remains, "she screamed. Will we fight each other if we play this game? If they are my opponent, there is no way I can win. Saki has great strength and can jump quite high, whereas Yuu is tough, fearless, and strong. She is still harsh on me, and nothing has changed. When Saki says something that isn't humorous but Yuu keeps laughing. He forced us to play by saying, "Come on, let's just give it a go."

What she said to me previously made me feel anxious. She appeared to be looking down on me. She appears to be underestimating my abilities. I know I'm a burden, but she doesn't have to say it out loud, especially when there are other people around. She seems to be shaming me in front of other people. We entered the Arrow Void gaming lobby. This is the most beautiful lobby I've ever seen. Yuu brought us all together in one place. He clasped our shoulders in his arms. "Take a look at the leaderboards," Saki said.

I examined the leaderboards. Weekly legends, monthly legends, and all-time legends are the three leader boards provided. Each leaderboard displays the names of the top 30 competitors, as well as a hologram depicting the whole appearance from head to toe of the top five competitors. It is true that the lady who drew the crowd's attention here is legendarily the greatest of all time. "Then we should get her autograph and pose for a picture with her! The audience began to laugh at me. Yuu and Saki approached me to defend me. "Hey hey, stop making fun of my friend. You know my friend can outpower you," he said.

"Did you just tell me that your friend can surpass my power?" she asks, her face contorted with disdain. Yuu just laughed and said nothing. I believe he's chuckling because insulting an all-time great player is a major accomplishment for him. "What is amusing, don't be ridiculous, no one can surpass my power," she slapped Yuu in the face. Saki goes in front of both of us and gives the lady a death stare. The lady responded, "Don't give me that stare piece of trash." "Are you aware of who I am?" Saki said. "I don't even need to know you," the lady chuckled. "Do you recognize the man in front of you?" Saki asked.

"The man in front of you can make lightning arrows," she explained. The lady is stunned, but she refuses to believe it. "A lightning arrows? Are you insane? A lightning arrow is impossible to make, and it is only a legend that the lightning God used as a weapon". "Then see it for yourself; you can get a copy of this man's battle film," she replied. Saki reached into her tiny bag and pulled out a kimono. She begins to wear the kimono in front of the crowd. "That's the spirit." Yuu whispered. "And you've asked who I am. Saki Watanabe is my name "She turned her back on the crowd and remarked proudly. We can clearly discern a clan's name, and everyone is astonished when they read it. "Y-... Y-you are from the Watanabe Clan?" the lady asked in fear. When she noticed the clan's name on Saki's kimono, the lady's leg shook with horror. Saki turned back to face the lady and stated, "and don't call me trash; this guy has the ability to steal the cream of the crop from you if he desires. Takahashi and Yuu, let's go! "
