Paige looked at the report card in dread. Never, not once in her life ha she gotten anything below a C+ in anything. Ever. An E? “Paige, please stay back after this class.” Her homeroom teacher, Miss Dome told her and she nearly groaned out loud. Of course, the woman would want to talk about her report card.
“Ma’am?” She asked approaching her desk when the class was over.
“Are you doing okay?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“It’s just, you are usually so bright but these days you look like something is bothering you.”
“I am fine ma’am. Thank you.”
“Well, your report card says otherwise,” Miss Dome sighed sitting at the table. “What is wrong, Paige? Are there problems at home?”
“No. Things are great.”
“I heard your brother is back. He came back over thanksgiving right, is that right?”
“Yes?” Paige
