(Clara) The rest of the meeting was a disaster for me. Everybody else seemed perfectly capable of discussing research proposals, conference presentations, and project deadlines without completely losing their minds. Unfortunately, I wasn’t having the same experience. The comment should not have bothered me. It was harmless. A student had made an observation, everyone had laughed, and the conversation had moved on and that should have been the end of it instead, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. “You two make a good team.” The words kept replaying in my head.
