Finding McKayla

A Day Out

I jumped into the backseat. “Hey guys!”

“Hey birthday girl!”  Maria said grinning. 

Maria was my best friend for as long as I can remember. James her brother was in the drivers seat and his mate Katie was in the passenger seat. 

“Ready to get this birthday fun day started?”  Katie said with a chuckle. 

“Yes!” Maria and I said in unison. 

We took the 15 minute drive into town talking and listening to music. When we got to the mall James went to park as we went into the spa for some special treatment before shopping. I was excited to get some new clothes and shoes. After the spa we went to Jenny’s Jeans. I picked up a dark blue with the rips in them and held them up to me. 

“Ooh those would look so great on you!” Maria gushed. I laughed and decided to get them. We looked around some more and the girls grabbed some for themselves. We went from store to store finding things we liked till finally the girls wanted to go to a makeup store. Now I know nothing about makeup really as I never wore any. 

“Come on you can’t kick it till you try it Kayla.”

“Yeah!  Just get some mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner.”

“Fine” I sighed. No use arguing they’d just get me some anyway. We walked up to a employee who proceeded to find what kind of makeup was best for my skin tone. She showed me how to apply it and I felt like a completely different person with it on. 

 We finally made our way back to the car. “Have fun?” James asked while pulling Katie in and giving her a soft peck on the lips. “Yeah thanks guys this was really an amazing day. Hey where do you want to eat? I said. James smirked. “I have the perfect place”

We pulled up to a small café I had never been to before called The burger joint. After grabbing a bite to eat we decided it was time to get home so I could get some rest before my shift. 

I was completely exhausted from running around shopping all day and barely stayed awake long enough to show my mom what I got before showering and crawling into bed.
