Chapter 1

Season 2: Episode 9

The blackness in surrounding her. The night looked like a pool of black, inky water. And she hated it.

She hated being alone. It reminded her of herself. Alone.

Her hairs, lock of dark brown, was swaying behind her, as she moved forward on the unequal path, her black boots crushing the dry leaves.

She pushed her slender legs, covered in tight black jeans as her fingers wrapped around the opening of her leather jacket, over the white camisole she wore, as the cold wind started to pick up.

Suddenly, she heard a whoosh sound behind her, on which she turned around and found a woman behind her. Her hair was a lighter shade of blonde from where she saw. She wore a dark green gown like the one in old times. Her facial features were unable to see as she had her back to the lady in black.

"Excuse me." The brunette said but only received silence.

"Hello?" She called again, but same response.

The brunette moved forward and kept a hand on the blonde lady's shoulder. And she screamed.

A gasp sounded in the silent room which belonged to Natalia Grace.

Drops of sweat adorned her pale skin as she ran a hand through her dark brown hairs. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she took deep breaths trying to control her heartbeat.

"The nightmares again?" A voice startled her, causing her to jump on her bed. A relieved sigh escaped her lips as she saw her caretaker, Emma, who walked in the massive room, with a tray.

"Yes again," Natalia whispered.

"What was it, this time?" Emma asked as she uncovered a whiskey glass, revealing a red liquid.

Blood.

She had got it to scent the moment Emma walk in. She looked at the red liquid intensely. She had a need, a craving to drink it since she was just a baby of a few days.

Unbelievable, but still, she was a vampire from birth and she still grew just like a normal human.

She felt the veins pop up near eyes, as she could see all red, blood, as she bought the glass up to her lips and emptied the contents.

"Like the last one." She stated, licking the blood from the corner of her lips.

"You might want to talk to Bonnie?" Emma suggested before Natalia left the bed to her walk-in closet.

"And what help will that do?" Natalia asked as she heard Emma walk in. "Bonnie hates vampires like decomposing garbage. There is a chance of 0.000, for her listening to me."

"Maybe like younger Salvatore, you should try and convince her that you are nothing like Damon." The older lady said whilst finding a dress for Natalia.

"Or maybe I could not be around her when she is running scared. She may give me an aneurysm." Natalia said.

"Also Damon is my best friend. What about this?" The younger brunette held up a black floral dress with spaghetti strap, ending above her knees.

Emma nodded. "But still, she is your friend."

The older lady walked outside as Natalia made her way inside her bathroom to do her daily chores.

Natalia was the adopted child of Lybrinth family. Amara Lybrinth, her adoptive mother, lost her real child. And fortunately, for Hamish Lybrinth, a billionaire he was, the news of his supposed child was high in the air. And he found little Natalia of just a few days in Emma's hands outside the hospital.

He asked her to give the child to him to raise. Emma didn't want to but agreed on the condition, that they would let her be Natalia's caretaker.

That's how Natalia got the name of Lybrinth.

Natalia was sitting on her vanity applying peach coloured lipstick after wearing her dress with a denim jacket and black scraping when Caroline's message popped in her phone screen.

Caroline:- come to school fast.

"Carp," Natalia muttered and ran to her car, telling Emma she was off to school.

After reaching school, Natalia parked her Audi in the parking area. All the boys turned to look at her as she rolled her eyes at their behaviour, frantically searching for her best friend.

"Nat, " Caroline called the brunette near the lockers. "Come with me." Caroline grabbed her wrist and dragged her through the crowd as the blonde again called someone" Stefan"

Natalia's eyebrow furrowed as Caroline dragged her to the green-eyed Salvatore. "Hey, I need to talk to you." Caroline said as the girls reached him."Where are you going?"

"Well, Elena just went homesick," Stefan said "I just want to check up on her. I am kinda worried about her."

"You know what of course you are, go ahead, we can talk later," Caroline said, slightly dismissing and turning around before Stefan called.

"Talk about what?"

"I might have done something..." Caroline trailed off making the other two vampires suspicious.

"What did you do?" Stefan asked.

"I told Tyler I am a vampire," Caroline said, sheepishly.

"Caroline Forbes." And for the first time, Natalia spoke before turning to Stefan. "Let's go to the grill, shall we."

The vampire trio reached the restaurant, where Caroline and Natalia ordered some food, as the elder vampires waited for an explanation.

"Sorry to drag you here," The blonde spoke. "But if I don't eat, I get those 'kill innocent people' urges. Tyler totally has too, by the way."

Natalia dipped her fries in ketchup, as she asked in annoyance. "So dear BBF, what else did you say to him?"

Caroline gulped and the sarcasm the brunette used. "Not much. I was trying to keep the questions to a minimum." Stefan sighed and turned to the brunette beside him, as she rubbed her face before Caroline asked, "Are you mad?"

"Yes Caroline, as a matter of fact, I am. I don't know of Natalia but, a little mad. I mean you put yourself at risk. If Damon finds out-"

"You're not gonna tell him, are you?"

"You're not telling Damon."

Caroline and Natalia said, respectively, cutting Stefan off, the former in fear and the later in being threatening and angered.

"No, of course not, " Stefan said, "he would kill you."

Natalia's phone binged and she focused on it then Caroline and Stefan banter.

The message said.

Mom:- me and Hamish will be out. Behave at home.

Amara was a strict woman, maybe for the fact, Natalia wasn't her own child, but she had an immense amount of hatred for the young vampire as she wanted her to be like a 'Barbie princess' as Natalia said. And whenever Amara never got something, hell broke loose, till the point, Natalia had to compel her to shut up.

"No, no, no. Caroline, you have 2 seconds to come clean." Natalia heard Stefan say, causing her to furrow her eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" Caroline asked innocently, as the brunette vampire was tucking her phone in her purse.

"I'd believe the whole innocent act a little better if I didn't know how good you were at providing a distraction on-demand," Stefan say and glances at Natalia "Do you know anything about this?"

"About what?" the brunette vampire spat.

"Where is Elena?" the green-eyed vampire asked sternly staring at Caroline.

Caroline sigh in defeat. "I can't tell you."

"You can't tell? what you can tell? What is going on Care?" Natalia almost yelled

"I am sorry, but I can't tell you." Caroline's eyes filled with guilt.

"Caroline, Elena was kidnapped. She could have been killed, and you are seriously not going to tell me where she is?" Stefan said.

"She is not in danger. I would not have let herself in danger." Caroline exclaimed

"Put herself in danger? Where... what do you..." Stefan paused. "She is with Damon, isn't she?"

Natalia's face turned into a grimace at a picture of elder Salvatore and elder Gilbert together.

"Eww, no."

"Then where is she?" Stefan says tightly. "Listen, if you are my friend like you have been pretending all the day, then you will tell me where she is."

Caroline's face turned sorrowful as she spoke "Stefan, I am your friend. But I am also and Elena's friend and I are sorry but I am not going to tell you where she is." Stefan's became guilty as he leaves.

"I am sorry, I dragged you too. I am more confident when you are around." Caroline said and looked at Natalia.

Natalia smiles.  "It's alright, no problem."

And both girls embrace each other and let themselves out of the restaurant to enjoy the rest of the day.
