Chapter 5

1010 Words
Gideon the Prince? I could hear his name like a bell in my brain. The Lycan Prince was the only other Prince Gideon in the entire school. I got chills just thinking about him taking me to the doctor in his arms. "Am I becoming less capable of healing?" I could feel hot tears welling up in my eyes and my voice was faltering. "Scarlet, stop weeping." She took a bedside seat next to me. "My goal is to assist you," Though my lips were still trembling, I nodded. I was at a loss as to why I would suddenly become incapable of mending. What kind of wolf would I be without them? "Is this the day when you turn eighteen?" She enquired. "Have you already discovered the one?" I was surprised by her inquiry because I had no idea how it related to anything I was going through. I was not prepared to acknowledge that my partner did not want me and, in actuality, thought another girl was more attractive than me. "I haven't—" "Tell me the truth, please." She interrupted me. She leaned forward to wipe the tears from the corner of my eyes. "I understand that it can be difficult to accept rejection, particularly after years of searching for a partner. However, this goes beyond your wolf-strength recovery. A partner's rejection can put an end to your ability to change forever." I felt like my whole universe was falling apart at that very moment. Because of Josh, my destined partner, I was losing my powers."He said, "We can not be together," but he also announced his rejection. Instead, he desires Sandra." I tried not to cry when the searing pain in my chest came back. "Oh my Scarlet, that is the reason you can not get better. You are losing your skills because of him." She had sympathy in her eyes for me. "If you have to live without him, you will have to accept that he will always reject you. You will eventually become little more than a frail, weak wolf if you do not take that action. I smothered a sob. "If he rejects me, then I will be considered a lone wolf. The pack will never let me back. Losing my skills would be preferable to losing my family." "That is not true!" I jerked when Gideon's words reverberated across the room. Obviously, I had not remembered he was still in the room with us. With anger burning in his eyes, he went nearer to me and knelt down on the bed. Josh is not worthy of you. How could a guy turn down a girl like you? To escape the effects of his self-centeredness, you must first reject him." "Who should I reject?" With a sudden turn, I noticed Josh saunter in casually with his eyes burning with wrath when he saw us. As Josh gazed at Gideon, I could feel his disapproval, and with every minute that went by, the disapproval grew closer to hatred. "I will give you three the room." In a discreet manner, the nurse left the room in an attempt to prevent any drama. "Josh-" "Josh-" "Ahem. Keep quiet; you are still in pain." Josh leaned forward and gave me a gentle forehead rub. He gave him a smile that was obviously devoid of feeling. "As soon as I learned what had happened, I arrived. Do you feel better now?" "Why are you even in this place? That is what your girlfriend did to her. You have no business being here. Now depart!" As Gideon talked, I could sense the room's pitched authority. Josh laughed slowly. "She is my mate, so I have every right to be here. It is not within your power to prevent me from being with her." What just happened? I mentally repeated Josh's remarks to be sure I understood him correctly, but I didn't. Has he called me his partner now? What became of his earlier rejection? Josh, she is no longer your mate. The instant you sided with Sandra over her, you lost her." When Josh heard those remarks, he appeared to be struggling with himself on the inside. "I will take it from here from here," How come? What topic was he discussing? How did Prince Gideon, who appeared out of nowhere a few minutes ago, know so much about Josh and me? He seemed to be trying to take me as his own when he talked with such assurance. Josh appeared to be about to get aggressive for a brief moment as his words seemed to stab into his heart. "You do not fear me," Josh crossed his arms. "I have not told Scarlet that I reject her yet. I still have every right to claim her as mine, for that reason. You ought to back off and avoid her company. She does not even know who you are, after all." It took me a moment to realise that the two of them were involved in some sort of relationship. Something more profound than a superficial miscommunication, and it concerned me. "She is becoming less competent as a result of your rejection. You know you are a threat to her, do not you? There should not be a hair on her head that you can touch." I recoiled a little as Josh banged his fist against the wall. "You can not give me instructions!" He growled. What had overcome him so quickly? "Josh, get up." With a chilly and harsh tone, Prince Gideon spoke. "I own her now." "What do you know? Why do not we give her the freedom of choice?" Josh approached me and smiled. I was still attempting to comprehend Gideon' assertion about myself when he delivered the shocking revelation. "You will regain your abilities once I accept you as my partner. However, the issue lies in the fact that you have two partners and must decide between the two of us. Right now. Who will it be, exactly? Who is it, me or him?"
